Will the police return these wheels to you or to your insurance company. Since the insurance paid a claim for these don't they belong to them? Just curious how that works.

They should return the wheels to the rightful owner and Tim will have to reimbursement the insurance carrier for the amount they paid for his claim.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
So here's the update and it may not be all good for me. I received this e-mail from one of the deputies this morning:

"I have good news for you. Deputy ******* who works *********, is on his way this morning to retrieve the wheels. As soon as we got a location on the wheels, we went to the car and looked at the wheels. They had "Gorilla Locks" on the wheels, and he could not remove them from the car that night. The seller had until this morning to find a way to get the wheels off. The wheels may have to go through a seizure hearing and have a judge release them back to you, as there are several people who now have a claim on them, including your insurance company. we will discuss that after we have the wheels in our possession and talk again with the district attorney.

Thank you,

Deputy ********* *******"

Then on the way home the deputy mentioned in the e-mail called me and let me know he had the wheels. So since I have never dealt with this kind of situation before my guess is the insurance company now owns them since they paid me for them and will likely claim/be awarded ownership of them. I hope if that's the case they will give me an opportunity to buy them back but if it's too much I'll just let them go because they paid me a lot more than I originally estimated the loss to be when I first spoke to the adjustor. I do want to send the Constable's department here huge props, they delivered on every promise they made me and took a simple theft case and resolved it promptly. I was a huge help with the documentation I provided to prove ownership and taking 3 hours last Tuesday to go out to the see the car and do some investigation on my own, but they were awesome. No matter what happens from here I will be grateful to them for what they have done.

On another note, when I went to look at the car last Tuesday it had regular lug nuts on it and when the police went 2 days later it had 5 sets of Gorilla locks on it so they changed them after I looked at the car. That, along with the fact that the Autocheck report that seems to refute the father's claim they bought the car a couple of months ago, leads me to believe the family knows more than they let on. But that's the police's job to investigate, I'll just stand on the sidelines and wait for updates on the situation, kinda like you trolls have been doing for the last week.

Stay tuned, it'll all work itself out soon........

Talk to your insurance company before hand, they will most likely sell them back to you for the price they paid out, if not less.

Crazy how it is so difficult to get your own property back when you have evidence that its yours. Very fishy snake type stuff going on with the sellers smh..

Yeah... the wheel locks are pretty freaking tell-tale if you ask me.
Did you inform the police department that the lugs were changed after you saw them (and the stuff about the car history) ?
