If the 330 wasn't so much damn money I dont think the G35 would of sold as well. Its a better car, its a BMW.

The car may cost more, and performace parts may cost more, but if you can afford it...Go For It. If not go with the G, you will still be happy, but its not a BMW.

BMW= Big Money Wagons
BMW makes some great cars, but for the money they're overrated- all you're paying for is the name and propeller logo

I guess you've never driven one.

You're smarter than that, right?

For those of you familiar w/ German Engineering (Porsche', BMW), you know that they are the only manufactures who have successfully bridged comfort, and performance together.

Sure, you can still buy a bone jarring ride. But in general, these cars have found this niche' better than any other.

I can't ride in a viper longer than 30 min. A vette' longer than an hour, but I've driven a 911 across I-15 from Utah to CA, and it was a comfortable as a Lexus.

Hell all you have to do is get in a loaded base-model VW Jetta ($18k?), let alone an Audi to realize that we really got cheated vs the Germans in the interior design department. If you've ever driven a modern German car you'll realize that you can pretty much do all you'd want with the controls with your eyes closed. None of this "second elbow required to turn off traction control while you accidentally open the trunk" business, or "entire dashboard reflecting off of the window" or cheap lumbar control, or COMPLETELY insane seat control positions... Everything in a German car always seems to be EXACTLY where you'd want / expect it to be.

The japanese aren't exactly renowned for their excess in the comfort department... I mean... who takes their shoes off to eat for cryin' out loud??

That's funny, cause my neighbors 03 996 Carrera 4 is the most bone-jarring car i've ever been in, way more so then a late-model vette.

Right on. You Pay the High German Price for a reason. Some people just can see beyond a window sticker.

So if i were you i would go and drive the 2005 g35 6mt and 330ZHP and see if its 330 is worth the extra 7-8 grand.
Wow, I didn't know that the current 330 has identical acceleration as the G35. I thought the G35 was the fastest in its class.

Anyway it looks like th battle in this sector is "heating up". Just read that the 06 330 coming out in May will have an additional 30 HP which should give it a narrow lead. Meanwile rumors are out that the new 06 baby Lexus (IS 300?) is getting a 300 HP engine. If true this will be a 330 killer. I wonder what Infinity will do with the G in 06 to counter all this.

Ok Guys, Hp, Hp Hp. Hp is not everything. We all love our G's for all the things it does well and that is everything. It is luxurious, fast, handles well, purrs nice and has a decent stereo. Some of you probably even get laid in the back seat. Do you like paying 217 per gallon and having to use high test? Do you think fuel will ever come down in price. AND...the more HP, generally, the less fuel efficient the car is. OK, here is the real kicker. In the mid 1970's , I was a teenager working at a gas station. Yes, I am older than some of you. And obviously, you...and much of the rest of America has forgotten that crisis. People waited for fuel for many hours at a time during the winter months, had to shut the cars off so you did not waste gas and to be allowed to purchase ONLY 5 gallons max. Thats right, fuel rationing and it sucked big time. We have a product or had a product that could run on regular fuel (03, 04 sedan), albeit not as well as on midgrade. Now, the extra HP wars will make it necessary to use high test just like the coupes and the 350Z. How much HP is enough HP and is 0 - 60 in 6.2 fast enough?. Just posing some food for thought. I enjoy speed but if I wanted to have a real musclecar, I would look for a 70's Chevelle or a Plymouth Roadrunner with a 440 six pack etc. I guess our G's are just as or almost as fast and more refined ( and fuel efficient) and it will take another gas crisis to hit the auto Mfrs in the HP head. I know I did not buy my G to be a muscle car. I bought it because it was so refined at everything it does and thought I would get about 24 MPG Hwy (I was wrong). Ok, enough babbling from me. Enjoy your G's.

The New 330 Is Actually A Rehash Of The Old M3...just Thought It Was Interesting. I Wouldnt Fear Anty Lexus---they Are For Women And Old People. Its True Bmw Is Always Leading The Way For New Technologies But They Are Lagging Now...the Market Has Caught Up.

Those who want to be comfortable do.

What sense does it make to sit upright on a wooden chair with your shoes on?

Fascinating bit of logic you've got going on there...

And regarding the question at hand...Add another name to the list of people who would have bought a 330 were the price more competitive. The 330 is a better car IMO, but not 10k better.

Of all the cars I drove (minus the 330) the G35 felt most similar to my old (98) M3.

The argument was centered on what do you take if they are the same price.

I like the G35, A LOT. I may buy one, however, I've been offered a deal on a '04 330i ZHP, for less than an '05 G.

And it's a tougher decision now.
