Sedan mid-year changes, 2004.5?

Hey, I am buying a G this weekend. I used the search feature and I've been lurking here for a few days as well doing research before I ask any stupid questions so be kind!

I've found a 2004 G35S(sedan, 6mt) that has rear disc brakes. From what I read this isn't standard and I see that they made some changes to the coupe mid-year. The aesthetics of the car are all clearly 2004; Tail-lights, wheels, front bumper, non-painted moldings.

The questions: Can a 2004 G35S have the 'Rev-up' motor or the motor putting out(supposedly) 298hp? Was this a mid-year change or definitely 2005 and up?

Rear disk brakes with internal drum parking brake is the standard brake for your car. No other options.

Rev-up was 2005+

First off, there's no G35S in 2004, they are all just plain old G35's.
As Mustang said all G35's came with 4 wheel disc brakes & Rev-up's started in 05.
There are some differences between 04 & 04.5 which make the 04.5 a better car to tune. The most important being wide band, look to see if the car has a belt driven fan, if it does it's an 04 if it doesn't 04.5.

Well, the 2004 I'm looking at has a G35S badge. It looks like a stock badge.

Thanks for the belt comparison, those are things I want to look for prior to buying. I'm torn between two cars right now. Something is coming home by Saturday night...

If you are looking for a fun car to drive and not really modify beyond the basics, buy whichever car is in better condition and looks better maintained.

For *most* people the differences between 2004 and 2004.5 are negligible. If you plan on highly modifying the car it's one thing, but the vast majority don't go to that level. I've owned my '06x for 5-6 years and it's still 100% stock. E-fan is nice, but i wouldn't pass over a clean, well-kept belt-driven fan car.

Is the "S" badge red? If so it was probably taken from the later G35 models such as G35xS and G37S

It is, I'll be removing the badges. Only plans I have are tint, z suspension swap and the Z-tube/plenum spacer combo for awhile. If it's the '04 I will paint the lower moldings. I'll be more than happy with those changes.

If that's truely what you want to do to the car then buy the cleaner, more well-kept car in the best shape.

I took the advice Mustang, I paid a little more and got a little more I am now the proud owner of a 2005 6-speed sedan with 64k. Second owner. It's beautiful, :sniff:

I put around 300 miles on it over the weekend so I'll clean it up a little and post some pics later this week.

also, anytime I see a car with different badges, I instantly want to check to make sure it has not been in a rear collision.

Is that just because of the OC issues?
