Estimate to fix this car door?

Someone (without insurance) backed into my car yesterday. This is the damage. Can anyone estimate how much it would cost to repair it? will the door have to be replaced?

An Infiniti official body shop will be able to give you a very accurate quote.

Door shell will not be replaced. If so, part would be over $800 and paint/labor would be over $1000 to do it. Door repair, paint and blend into fender and rear door. Should be around $1000-$1200 from a reputable shop.

The guy does not look like he has $1200 lying around.

My deductible is $500. Maybe I should let insurance take care of it. I was thinking if total costs were $500-700, I could try to get the guy to pay me $500 and I'll eat $100-200 loss (since he was nice enough to come in to report his fault when he could easily run).

go to a shop and ask for an estimate, you could have him pay your deductible and take it to your insurance

Sue him, why should you pay for it when he did it?

Go through your insurance its a lot less hassle. I have been through this. both through insurance and just trying to get the money out of them. Everything will get paid for and your deductible will be paid back to you. And if they refuse to pay they will take their lisene and their ability to register a car.

Most likely they will pay if they can't afford it they will make a payment plan for them
