Ordering finance questions...

If you ordered your sedan (05 6MT), and financed through the dealership, when did you work out the financing terms (legth and APR). I'm wondering if this is some thing that I do when the car comes in, when I I place the order...?

Seems like you can only negotiate finance terms when the car actually arrives. The interest rates change pretty dang regularly....what they are this week might not be the same as next week.

My guess is your credit union/bank can easily beat the Dealer's rates. I just bought an 05 last month and got 3.5% at my credit union. The Dealer couldn't touch the rate.

I ordered my 05 6 spd sedan 2 wks ago and after the order met the finance guy who said Infinity rates are 5.9% and the banks can't beat that. I think he is full of it so I have about 2 mos (til car comes in) to shop around. I will probably call him back with my best offer and see if he wants to make a small profit rather than a big profit. I'll pay cash before I'll give this goniff 5.9%

let them play that game... get a rate from a credit union, they usually offer the best to their shareholders.

Infiniti got me 4.29, my CU got me 4.14. 3.5 is fantastic considering the Fed rate has gone up so much in the last 1.5 years.

If you don't belong to a credit union, try Capital One....they normally have pretty competetive rates.

5.9 seems at least a point too high.

For one, get the financing down before you order (if possible) or before put down any deposit. If you put down a deposit they will be less willing to work with you on financing since they already have some of your money, if you were to back out.

Second, definitely look into getting rates from a credit union, if you belong to one. When i bought my G, Infiniti dealership first came back with 5.25. I then showed them my rate quote from my credit union at 3.75 and they came down to 4.09. They never would go below 4.09 so I went with my credit union.

Good Luck... Watch out for those Loan Origination fees that some dealers will toss on without really telling you (the fine print). I have never seen a credit union charge this, but dealerships will.
