Brake Issues
Brake Issues
Spoke with a service manager at a local Nissan dealership. Apparently we are not alone in our premature brake wear issues. Nissan is now dealing with the same problem with their Titan trucks.
Not sure if Nissan has made an official release on this but it was somewhat comforting to know that we G35/350Z owners are not alone.
By the way, this dealer was refusing to charge customers for brake work LONG before Nissan issue their extended warranty. He had no problem getting Nissan to pay him either... hmmmm

Apparantly Nissan just doesn't get it! I'm thinking aftermarket for mine. I'm nearing 60K
and my warranty is running out. I fully expect needing new pads and rotors at 60K.

This dealer has already done aftermarket conversions to slotted/drilled rotors with Hawk pads by owners who don't want to wait and see what Nissan will do.
The cost he quoted was $20 more per set of pads and slightly less than the price for OEM rotors -- no change in diameter. Total cost was <$1000 CDN, installed
At least he's doing what he can to hold up Nissan in this neck-o-the-woods.

I will be going aftermarket as well. My fronts are going to need new pads and rotors. Im at 54K so my warranty on the brakes is long gone.
There are so many to choose from, I just hope I choose some good ones to keep similar braking response with added life.

I'm at 37,000 Km and am on my third pair (original + 2) of front rotors and fourth set of pads.. and the rears have been machined once.

I'm coming close to 70,000 KMs and I've had my front pads changed twice and rotors machined once and replaced the second time. For my rear they have been changed once and the rotors machined once.
Morning Guys;
I have a 2003 G35 early production (04/02 build date) and I have 27,000KM on it and the last service appointment, the service rep said that I have 70% of the original pads still left on the car!
There is something wrong here! I keep asking these guys because of the warranty of 3 years or 60,000KM, but the pads are not wearing out.
Anyway, thought that I would give you my stats.

Titan's, Armada's and QX56's all have the same brakes... They already have a TSB for some of the brake parts on those as well. I'd guess in the next revision they'll change out the brakes, just like they did for the 05 G35's.
We've done aftermarket pad and rotor sets on cars here, once they're out of warranty, and that seems to have really helped out on dust and brake wear.

an oil change and they said "looking good, X% left." Then during the next oil change I get
"Your pads and rotors are ready to be replaced!" Lying thieves
I noticed on my last service that there were two invoices prepared -- one for me with no charges or detailed items relating to the brake work done and... one invoice going directly to Nissan/Infinti with all the brake work identified.
Bad Oem Brakes???

Nissan is all the same in the brakes dept.
I've been battling NNA and losing lately -- my brake pads were the same, and i'm at 30k miles. Still 75% left on the front pads.
Wanna know why?
Cause the rotors are GLAZED AND WARPED.
When the rotors glaze, the pADS get glazed and this means the friction material cannot wear properly.
Have you noticed that your front brakes don't have NEARLY as much dust on them as they used to??
Classic case.
I personally will not purchase OEM brake components from NNA EVER AGAIN.
Get the Brembos, Powerslots, Wilwoods, OR get these.....
