Car overheating help yo

So I have my sedan for about under a year. On feb took it to infiniti for oil change and multi point inspection (and free car wash). They topped off all my fluids as well. All was fine and dandy, till today. While driving on the freeway at about 70mph with the a/c on when all of a sudden car went to limp mode couldn't get over 40-45 mph and my temp gauge jumped to high. Exit right away and stopped at shell station. Bought a gallon of 50/50 coolant and threw it in. Drove to a friend's mechanic who scanned the ses light and it was p1267. He also topped of the coolant some more. On my way home car's temp would rise with a/c. But if I turn it off or turn on heater it's fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Does your exhaust smell like antifreeze? Have you parked the car on a level surface and watched for droplets of water? Get a compression test.

Exhaust doesn't smell. And checked about 4 different times today, no leaks.

Check for blockage between your AC condenser and the radiator, this happened to my sedan and after removing some grit chunks (just build up of some random debris over 8 years I guess) she hasn't had an issue even on the 100 degree days *fingers crossed* OH I should mention that I replaced the thermo just in case and it still spiked on me once after that so the debris was the next step

Instead of guessing, did you check the code P1267, what's code say about the problem? Once you found out the problem, then it should be easy to get it fixed instead of guessing.

Generally, overheating is caused by water pump not working, radiator fan not working, radiator leaking, etc. But first find out what's P1267.

P1267 - Cylinder #7 High To Low Side Short
- Fuel injector No. 7 output circuit open or short to ground.
- Injector.
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

Something tells me that might not be the cause...unless your car is running on 5 cylinders because of it. But a V6 dropping a cylinder would be noticable. A V8 engine on the otherhand...not so much.

BTW...is your engine cooling fan coming on? If you put the A/C on, the fan should come on.

I went through some overheating issues recently, ended up being just the radiator cap. We figured it out after dried coolant stains kept appearing right below the cap. I'd also check your thermostat.

I had some overheating issues a few months back and my car has 39,000 miles. It turned out the thermostat wasnt opening properly. The fans were constantly running keep it the bay cool. That may be the issue

Thanks for the response guys. I googled p1267 and I didn't understand what it meant. Hence why I asked here. The radiator and thermostat was replaced by infiniti of montclair back in 09, thru the previous owner.

There doesn't seem to be much gunk/debris around the a/c condensor, but I'll check again in more detail on Wednesday.

How noticeable would it be if one of my cylinders really did drop? Symptoms that I would notice or should look for?

Fan does turn on with a/c, also turns on after a few minutes idle as well. Like maybe 8-12 minutes of idle in my garage, fans would turn on.

But since Friday, I have been able to drive around with a/c on and everything seems normal again. I think it was that I had low coolant. I did end up adding 1 and a half gallon of 50/50 coolant. Hope that was the cause and nothing more serious. Ordered a spill proof funnel thru amazon so I'll be burping the system once I get that.

V6 running on 5 would be quite noticable. Engine would run rough, shake and be down on power.
