Calling Doogie...

Hi -- I saw in a previous thread that you'd purchased, and liked, the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's. I'm looking to get this tire and was wondering first, what size you went with and for what year G, since they don't come in the exact OEM spec for my '04 sedan, and second where you bought 'em?

Thanks,
Andy

Stock size is 215/55-17

The size I got was 245/45-17. At the time the 235/50-17 was on national backorder and I wanted tires right then so I got the wider ones. Although I've not had any problems with the 245/45-17's at all, there is a slight bulge. The 235/50-17's are a PERFECT size for these tires and if you buy a set of GSD3's in that size you'll be very very happy. Granted, they are not cheap tires but they are a-mazing. 235/50-17 is the size I'll buy next time.

Use this tool to check out tire size differences. You'll see that the 235/50-17's are nigh-on perfect, and with these wheels they'll provide a nice vertical sidewall.

I found a price on tirerack.com, and then called discount tire. They will match prices you find on the internet minus shipping costs etc. I could have bought them on tirerack but then I'd have had to find somewhere to fit them and discount tire does all that for free. I also purchased certificates for all four - Certificates have saved my a$$ MANY times before especially with more expensive tires. I got out of the equation with tires, installation, certificates, and tax all for around $920. If they don't have them they can order them

You may find that they need to be balanced on a road-force balancer though, with the regular balance I felt a little shake at high speeds. After the road force balance though they've been solid as a rock. I'm at around 5k on them now and they're still working flawlessly. Getting them rotated this weekend. (For free, cos I bought them at Discount Tire)

Oh and it's a 2004 Sedan.

Perfect, Doogie. Thanks a bunch for the detailed info. Will get that size.

Oh, and sorry, Jason. New to this board and will try to abide by the rules a bit better in the future.
