Car loses power, then shuts off
Well one morning 2days ago, I noticed it was hard to start my G up in the afternoon. Then later in the evening, the car would not start or crank. I jumped it and off I headed home. But 1/4 mile down the road, it wouldn't pick up speed anymore. The lights and engine was still on, but when I stepped on the gas it wouldn't go anywhere. I could on coast down the street. After coming to a complete stop and trying again, the car drive fine until it hits 30mph, then loses power again. It did this the entire time for a mile. Then it finally cuts off, and I'd have to jump it again, and rush on home. Looks to me that the front oem belts I replaced are completely worn. Must be from over-tightening.
Could this be the reason why I'm not only losing power, but battery not recharging ? Please help, I'm going to buy replacement belts again today. And the battery is from autozone I bought not even 2yrs ago. And is there any where else that I can buy belts from that are good reliable belts?

Summary:
The circuit board for the crank position sensor and cam position sensor may have improper solder joints. This could cause the Service Engine Soon lamp to come on, the engine may not start, you could experience reduced power, or the engine may stall without warning, which could result in a crash. Dealers will replace the the crank position sensor, cam position sensors, and in some cases, the variable timing control sensors. The recall began on December 22, 2003. The Nissan recall number is R2022 and the Infiniti recall number is R3021.

From what the OP has written, sounds like he's describing a charging issue situation where he must jump start the car, it runs for a short while and then it does and needs to be jumped again. He did not describe a CEL being on so it doesn't sound like a typical crank/cam position sensor issue.
If this is the case, i'd suspect a failing alternator. Your observation of the belt being worn would make me wonder if there is a pulley seizing that might be contributing to the issue?
What i'd do based on your info is to have the charging system tested, specifically the battery and alternator. I'd also closely inspect the belts and pulleys and make sure none are failing.
I'm assuming the CEL is not lit up. If it is, it goes without saying you should have the code read. Autozone can do this, as well as the charging system testing for you at no charge (unless you live in CA)
