03 G35 Sedan Leaking Fuel/Gas from Drivers Side Rear Wheel Area Have pics
I noticed yesterday drops of gas fuel on my driveway.
I looked under my car and saw on the Driver's side near the rear wheel next to the midpipe Resonator in front of the rear wheel, there is some sort of black pan where it's leaking.
I posted pics. Does anyone know what this pan is or area is called?
I also have a p1446 evap vent control valve CEL come on.
I thought the gas tank was on the passenger side and not the drivers side. I think you can hear it pop like theres pressure building up and the pop is so it releases the pressure, but Im not even sure if it's the gas tank.
Would appreciate your thoughts and advice because I can use anything right now...

Gas tank straddles the driveshaft, so it's on both sides of the car technically.

Start at page 12 for a diagram of what's around the tank. If you pull your rear seat up, there are two access holes to the tank pump. You might be able to see what's leaking from there.
Your third pic however looks like physical damage to the tank, I see a hit on the corner. Have you struck anything lately?

Thanks guys, I had to take off work this morning to take it to my mechanic. After inspection, he pointed out a small dent in the fuel tank. (I thought the gas tank was located on the passenger side because thats where the gas door is and where i put gas in) He suggested that I might of hit something. I do remember last month on the freeway going over something making a loud metal hitting noise underneath but that was over a month 1/2 ago..... It was during rush hour traffic so it was unavoidable, and I didn't even see what it was..) The car drove fine afterwards, it has to be that time. I park in the garage so last Sat night when I smelled the gas I'm shocked it took that long for fuel to leak.
I also noticed when the car was turned off the gas tank was making noises fizz noises like it was going to explode....When you turn the car on you can hear the gas tank pop once like it's letting out pressure). He said it's because of my faulty Evap Vent Control Valve. So I ordered part#14935-JF00B and I'm looking for a used gas tank. He sanded down the tank with vinegar and used JB Weld. He said it takes hours to cure and so far the drip is fixed but suggested it's a temp fix until I get a new fuel tank.
I'm really suprised about the evap vent valve because I didn't think emissions could affect the gas tank that much making it pop by teh vent staying closed all the time so the vapors can't escape.. To anyone putting off this vent valve, get it done quickly, becuase from what I see it's simple to install.
