Auto window up when car is shut off
Auto window up when car is shut off
Ive tried searching but i haven't seen my issue listed at all.
Well some amateur tried breaking into my car AGAIN! And failed again, but this time around they really banged up my door, door handle, and broke my key lock on the door.
My issue now, after i fixed the door handle is my window is doing something it never did before.
With windows rolled down and i shut off the car, after a couple seconds the windows roll back up by themselves.

Did you replace the key lock?
I'm guessing the issue lies there. When the car is off, if you insert your key and HOLD it to the lock position, all the windows will roll themselves up.
Since the car is behaving like this, and you said the thief messed up the lock, i would guess the issue lies in the lock since it's behaving as if you are physically turning the key to lock

no, i didnt replace the lock. didn't think the lock was causing that. but now that you mention it, i did notice if i rolled the windows down with the key remote, the windows go down then automatically roll back up.
I noticed the morning i found my car messed with. the door handle was messed up and i couldnt open the driver door, so i was trying to roll down the windows to open the door from the inside, but the windows kept going back up. i had to use the passenger door to get in.
After that, i took off the door handle and fixed the door a little so it would open and the door handle fit somewhat flush again to the door, since then i havent tried using the key remote to roll the windows down again. going to have to test.
I havent bothered replacing the lock yet, cause the car needs to go to the shop to really fix the door handle, but since winter is upon us i figured i just wait it out.

The key cylinder has an electrical switch on it that grounds a wire when the key is turned to the "Lock" position. That wire runs right to the window switch - if you cut the wire at the window switch it will prevent the windows from going down with the key in the drivers door key cylinder. This will prevent thieves from breaking the key cylinder and using that "feature" to lower the windows (and disarm the alarm).
good insight KPierson - I have your auto rollup module and was wondering if I could make that cut to disable the lock rollup as a precaution and still use your module?
(btw) your switch is one of my favorite features to show folks, and your customer service rocks.

Yes you can as long as you cut the wire AFTER the connection to the KPtechnologies NM20. The green wire on the NM20 must be connected to window switch module in the door in order for it to work!
