UPDATE: Door was open. Nothing is wrong

Hey all, I ordered some white LEDs to replace my interior lights with and started installing them. I started off with the 2 center dome lights and replaced them and they work fine. Then I went to do the rear dome lights and popped out the housing on the drivers side but couldn't figure out how to get at the bulb(btw, If somebody can help me with this that would be great).

After this things start getting weird.

I go inside for maybe 10 minutes and come back out, and the dome lights are still on. After further inspection, if they are on the DOOR setting they will always be on, not turning off when they are supposed to.

I then get out of the car and hit lock on my remote. The doors locked, but there was no honk like there was supposed to be. (I realize you can set it up to do this all the time, but I didn't do anything to change it and I don't want it to be like this)

I also left the headlights on AUTO and waited for them to turn off, but they didn't after 2 minutes so that isn't working properly either.

What should be my course of action? I still haven't put in the remaining LEDs(step lights, rear dome lights, and trunk). I read somewhere that disconnecting the battery might fix my issue, but if not I have to get the BCM reprogrammed for mad money from the dealer.

Should I replace the remaining LEDs and then disconnect the battery, to reset the system(I'm assuming thats what would happen), or will I risk screwing something up more?

Or should I just cut my losses, put the original dome lights back in, disconnect the battery and hopefully that will fix it?

EDIT: after finding this: it seems like reprogramming the BCM would allow me to change some stuff to better suit my preferences so if it comes to that I really wouldn't mind. But I still haven't figured out how to replace rear dome lights and the step lights.

 

A couple thoughts:

First, below is a pic of the rear "personal lamps". Hope that helps with that.

The other thing is (and others here can help with this) I think LEDs generally operate at lower voltage than regular 12v bulbs and it is rare to see an LED that can fade out. They are either on or off generally. So, the circuit which fades out the main dome lights may not like the electrical "load" of the LEDs you're using. It could also be that there is normally some small voltage there even when the dome lights are off, not enough to light the 12v lamps but enough to light your LEDs... Kind of a long shot but it's an idea. What LEDs are you using?

That doesn't help explain your other odd issues though. I guess I would first try putting all the original bulbs back in to see if things go back to "normal"...

 

Thanks for that image, that does explain it I didn't realize the lense came off.

These are the LEDs I'm using. I really like them, the brightness is the same as stock and the cool white color is nice. I'm hoping I get to keep them.

I put the original bulbs back in and the issues still exist. Luckly though my next door neighbor is the manager/supervisor of a Nissan dealership and he said he would have his tech call me tomorrow.

 

Just unhook the negative terminal then reattach it...it'll probably solve your issue and even if it doesn't it certainly couldn't hurt and only takes 5 mins

 

Wow, I can't believe I didn't catch this, but as I was waiting 30 sec with the negative terminal unhooked I noticed that my passenger door was open... yeah...

The light wasn't on on the dash so I assumed that they were closed, but it was in that half closed position where it's still cracked even though it can lock and the light won't show.

So after I reconnected the battery everything was back to normal, and I finished installing the lights. I guess I'll update this post with pics so that this thread isn't too useless

 

Its best when these are the answers to your issues. I would recommend unlinking the negative end of the battery and relinking it to test, to be honest.
