So after performing the headlight restoration
twice on my headlights already within 6 months,
I am sick and tired of the haziness and the
dismal light output the reflectors give out.
After much research I have decided NOT to buy the L.E.D strip ebay headlights.
They flake within months and people report that their
build quality is horrible and it is a pain to aim, etc...
I see now that my money will be better well spent retrofitting.

So I know alot of you guys have done a projector retrofit on the
ebay oem headlights and I was wondering if they flake or become hazy easily.

Do people put a film or some kind of coating to prevent the oxidation/flaking from occuring?

What are my options as to choosing the headlights itself?
Are the ones on ebay not worth it or should I purchase the real O.E.M ones from Infiniti?
I would like to have these headlights function/look well for 4 years or so...

What are your two cents?

I would try sanding and clear coating the stock lights before buying new. I did mine and they came out great. I used an automotive clear with uv protection in it called u - pol clear #1.

OP the link you posted isn't for OEM lights. That's just another cheap knock off that will have the same issues as the LED versions you mentioned. Do what 5150 did and you'll be super happy.

Thanks for the inputs guys. I have used the 3m restoration kit which had me wet sanding the headlights. It made them much better but I feel they are becoming hazy again. I did apply a UV protectant that came with the kit. I really don't want to spend $1000 on OEM headlights then spend another 800 to get them retrofitted. How have they held up so far 5150DS? I would much rather keep my old headlights before I buy a new housing.

Im in the same situation, i have my oem set, purchased a set of the cheap black ones, which are holding up pretty good. I dont want to thread jack so ill start a new one. im thinking of these though :

I did it 6 months ago and they look like they did right after I finished. I did the headlight kits too and they always hazed over. The paint is the good stuff not light the stuff you get at OReilly or autozone.

OP, if youre still wondering about this- I bought a set to retrofit last may from am-autoparts on ebay. They're holding up pretty good so far, no hazing or anything.
