Question Compression rod aka lower rear control arm on 2004 g35x vs g35 vs coupe

Hi,
Do these cars(G35 RWD, X - All Wheel Drive, 2 door Coupe) in the 2004 line use the same front compression rods, aka, the front rear lower control arm?

My understanding is that the front suspension on the X-models is different than the rest of the line up. Basically you need arms/bushings/etc that are specific to X model. RWD coupe/sedan/350z are all interchangeable.

The "X" version is iron steel, while the RWD's and coupes use an Aluminum arm IIRC.

I'd imagine this has to do with increased forces in the front suspension due to the front wheels being able to thrust.

Question

Thanks, ordered a front right side compression rod from Napa and one from amazon (can't remember the name of the supplier) and both were the light aluminum ones that were essentially a little bit shorter (more bowed in) than the X's counterpart and yes they are MUCH much lighter too.

I now will order one from rockauto.com but the pic looks like it's aluminum so I'm a little leary.

Has anyone by chance bought this control arm for a g35x and can confirm that it is indeed the correct part?

I googled the RAYBESTOS 5071703 part number and found other listings for it listing RWD cars in it's application as well.

Honestly, no clue if you will get a RWD arm, or AWD arm. Guess you will have to find out. At least rockauto is very good in their returns sending you a shipping label to return it free of charge.

The X rod is iron and painted black...like this

Does the shape match your X? It certainly looks a little different than the RWD version, and it's labeled as the AWD part.

Didn't know they paid for shipping back and since it lists that the part is for AWD version I don't think they will argue with me if it is incorrect. Will order it and hopefully it will be the right part.

Will update thread if it is the wrong part to hopefully save someone else wasting their time waiting for it to arrive and the aggravation of having to send it back.

I just ordered left and right compression rods for my 2004 G35X and they came in today. Here is what they look like. Note that they also say '4W' on them. Also is a picture of the infiniti invoice showing the part numbers. I believe these are the same part numbers for the 2004, 2005, 2006 all-wheel-drive models.

Yeah they are pretty good about that stuff. I ordered a caliper to replace a seized rear caliper, and even though they listed the driver's side caliper, i kept getting a passenger side. They sent out another, same thing, so I tried a different brand and got the right one on the 3rd try. But all 3 times they were quick to send a return shipping label so i could drop the box off at UPS and have it sent back so they could send me another.

Also, they ALWAYS have a 5% off discount code active if you google search them. Most of the time that equals free shipping.

I have a g35x body with a RWD transmission but still have the X suspension. I have read that there is interference with the CV axel boot, that would not be an issue in my case.

Thanks

so you have an X but converted it to rear wheel drive?
is your front suspension similar to the X or the rear wheel drive sedan?

the RWD and the X compression rods are shaped differently. I have attempted to install a RWD CR on my X and no go. Simply will not fit as stated above.
