I've had this issue seems since I lowered my car on coilovers. It comes from the front whenever I hit a bump or pothole too hard. Sounds like something slamming my hood from underneath. Last year I replaced the bushings, they were shot, but after that I'm still getting it. The shop said everything else about my suspension checked out OK.
Any idea what this could be? Is my car too low? lol

You replaced what bushings? This could be a few things. Need more info. What all have you replaced and when did it start? Did it start directly after a mod? Or not too long after one? Have you replaced any ball joints? Are any ball joints leaking?Originally Posted by risingson

Last year I put in new compression rods with OEM bushings- I think they revised the bushings but I can't remember. Could these bushings still be making the noise? I know there are solid bushings available. Are the ball joints part of the compression rods? If so then they are new.
That is the only thing I have replaced. My car has been lowered on Tein Comfort Sport coils for a few years and I can't really remember it before that, but I have been getting this noise for a few years. I don't remember if I was getting it right after it was lowered or not. I have front and rear SPC camber kits.

Alright, so yes, if you're riding on OEM comp rod bushings, especially if lowered, I would bet money that they are bad. Do you know where they are? If so, take your tire off and give it a quick visual inspection and see if its squished more on one side than another. That's a tell tale sign.Originally Posted by risingson

OEM rubber (revised or not) can not hold up for very long to the extreme pressures that this cars suspension angles create. So your only choice is to either replace them every 6 months or get polyurethane bushings in the comp rods. The poly is the perfect solution for our cars as far as I'm concerned.
I actually sell compression rods with energy bushings preinstalled, but since you have new rods and the ball joints are new, I'll sell you a set of poly bushings for what I bought them for if you want and you can have them installed elsewhere.

Check your inner LCA bushing. My compression rod and inner LCA bushings went out at the same time, but it was my LCA bushing making the noise.
Way too many items that can do this..
that clunk could be as simple as sway bar endlink being unbolted. I found one of my rears missing a nut so it was hanging freely.

How low are you? Your front upper control arms might be hitting the shock tower. The SPC arms come with little washers for the shocks if you're bottoming out on bumps.
