Hey guys, as the title suggests I need new shocks for my 06 g35x. does anyone have suggestions for shocks? I'm not look for super high performance shocks, but I would like to upgrade from oem without breaking the bank. Hope to hear some opinions. Thanks

I put the KYB Excel G's on my '06 X. I've put about 13K miles since install, and I'm happy with them. They are slightly firmer than stock, but not harsh at all. I also installed coupe springs up front at the same time to drop the front 1" and level out the fender gap with the original rear springs.

Great info!! I saw those online and they were reasonably priced. Plus i also have a g/z setup planned (springs are already in my trunk) so its good to hear what type of ride I would be looking at. I'm not sure I want a firmer ride though....i do like the luxury feel alot and don't know if I want that sportier feel.

I have 45k miles on my KYBs and they're still allll good. I think they're only 10-20% more stiff than stock. Its an almost unnoticeable amount, especially if you're going with factory coupe springs. The springs are what give you the harsh ride. I definitely recommend the shocks tho.

If you can afford it buy a quality set of coilovers if not KYB and Tokicko both make quality products.

spend the few extra bucks and go with real shocks, like koni or bilstein.

KYB or Tokico will do just fine for what you want. No need in breaking the bank if you don't have to.

Koni and Bilstein won't give you a better ride than KYBs, basically a factory ride...Gary

Alright so I read a few more reviews on top of you peoples suggestions and im thinking ill go with the KYBs, but i normally try to buy from vendors on this site if i can, anyone know of a vendor selling these? i saw someone was selling the tokico blues, but didn't see any for KYB.

I bought mine from Rock Auto. I know they're not a vendor, but our vendors have limited stuff for the X. When I was looking into replacing my struts last year, I think KYB was the only company that had X front struts besides Monroe. Bilstein didn't have them, and I doubt they do now. Pretty sure Tokico doesn't have fronts for the X either. If you're going to do the Z/G spring setup, you might as well buy a set of strut tops and new boots so you can build a complete assembly ahead of time. That's what I did, and it made life much easier. I was able to R&R each side pretty quick, and swap the lower mount that goes around the axle to install on the new strut.

Get the tokicos if you don't go coilovers. Trust me. I've had all three: KYB, tokico blues, and BC coils. The tokico / sport spring setup is quite good. Sporty but still comfortable.
