Windshield washer pump replacement
Hi guys. It's been a while since I've been on the forum, glad to see it is as active as ever.
I am hoping to gain some wisdom about a problem that has just developed with my '04 sedan. She has 196,000 miles on the odo and still running strong and smooth, but my windshield washer pump seems to have gone out. At first I thought I was just out of fluid, but the reservoir is full now ( I did have to add about half a gallon to top it off). The wipers will cycle but no fluid is pumped out
Seems like I should be able to replace the pump but wondered if there was something else I needed to check? If replacing the pump, does anyone have experience with the job? Again, any wisdom offered will definitely be appreciated. I am not a total klutz with mechanical things but I am not the most experienced "technician".

Glad to hear your '04 is still going strong.
The first thing to check of course is the fuse - in your case I think it's #84 in the IPDM behind the battery (see below). With the ignition on and engine off you should be able to hear if the pump is running when you trigger it.
Next be sure the nozzles are not plugged. (Doubtful that all of yours would be but this could be Skeeter's problem)
Next be sure the hose from the pump to the nozzles is not pinched or split somewhere as it runs up behind the battery to the wipers.
Next suspect would be the "check valve" which might not be doing it's job. Pull the hose off the pump side of the check valve and see if you have pressure there.
If the pump is just busted then it's time for the service manual here:

Thanks mine is pumping I'm dealing with a pinched line on mine. Hood up or just unlatched it sprays fine, soon as I latch hood it stops. I can close hood and it sprays. Hard to see how it's pinched but going to have to figure out something. Thnaks and sorry for the hijack.
