Angry Dreaded AC/Radio Problems - Cheap fix?

Folks, my 03 G35 sedan lost power to the AC and Radio controls. AC stuck on high. Radio can be controlled from steering wheel only. I managed to temporarily resolve it by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes but that lasted a few days only.

Looking through the forums the common fix seems to be an after market DD radio/nav with a Metra kit. Costing this out turns out quiet pricey and I'm likely not keeping the car for long.

Any thoughts on what the most economical way to address this problem is going to be?
i.e can I just replace the radio, or is it the the finisher board, or both? Anything else I should be worried about?

PS>
Metra kit is at least $180, harness for $40, antenna adapter is $10, Bose adapter $30, steering wheel control adapter $50... plus radio.
Ps2> My car is not equipped with navigation.

I had the board fixed. Was $150 I think. But removal/install was a pain as the entire assembly has to come out

It may sound weird but I had this same exact problem. What I found out was the ribbon cable at the bottom of the radio was unplugged. I plugged it back in and taped it, then was able to see my radios LCD and turn my Ac back off. Before that Ac was on blast only could control the radio from steering wheel and couldn't see the LCD.

It's worth a try.

Mine does the same thing every so often. Once I notice the AC blasting by itself and the radio cutting out I carefully punch the radio as many times as necessary.

It works every time and is free

if u go with crutchfield the metra kit would cost $100 and come with all harnesses free if u buy a new receiver from them. but the bose adapter will probably not be included

Just had mine fixed by this guy on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/250905381740?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l4456&_trkparms=gh1g%3DI250905381740.N8.S1.M194.R1.TR1Works like a charm and I added GROM bluetooth/iPhone connector at the same time.

This fixed the following issues I had:
- Stereo faceplate not working (but the steering wheel controls do)
- Battery draw (kills battery if I don't drive it for 2 days or so)
- Dropped LF and LR channels from time to time
