G3 Shutting down while driving.

Guys, I have a 2004 G35 that keep shuting down while driving. Some times it will not crank and some time it will. I have change the cam shaft and crank shaft position sensors and it keeps doing the same thing. The VCD and slip lights keep coming on when it dose this. I scanned the care and the file below has the codes. Any clues to what is going on with the G35?EasyObd II - Version 2_5_0 Free Version.pdf

Read your codes. Odds are it is a crankshaft positioning sensor or camshaft positioning sensors.

I have read the codes, that is why I am asking. I have changed out both cam shaft sensors and the crank shaft sensor and still getting the issue. however I did get the sensors off ebay about 15 bucks a piece.

Were the new sensors Nissan or aftermarket?

If you didn't buy OEM sensors that's probably your issue.

$15 sensors don't really give me a whole lot of faith.

The fact that the OP is questioning his parts as well speaks a lot.

It does sound like its one of those sensors, not sure why you would go crazy and change all 3 when normally you need to replace it with one.

Mines was a crank sensor, I didn't go OEM with mines... I went with advanceauto, they had a BWD branded sensor for $25. I knew what i was doing, replaced it.

Been a good 10k miles and nearly a year, no issues.

Getting the proper code and diagnosis helps you save time and more importantly MONEY, your just throwing parts at it and looking to throw more parts at it again.

This happened to me, especially when the car was hot/ at low rpms. Changed my bank1 and bank2 O2 sensors, and I have been good ever since. Like everyone is saying, buy the parts from Nissan.

I'm running on Duralast sensors myself, I also installed them. They are between $40 and $65. 1 year no issues at all. I have no idea where you are getting $15 shaft sensors but you might want to at least get them from a parts store like AutoZone, Advance, O'Reilly's, etc. It isn't always necessary to buy OEM parts. There isn't always some magical element added to the parts by Nissan that makes them better. Besides, often times the people that make the parts, in this case the sensor board, also make the Nissan part.

I had them same issues with sensors from Rockauto. I tried both Hitachi and Delphi brand and I would get stalling and problems starting the car.

I often would not get a SES code when this happened. When I did it was P0340-passenger cam sensor.

I switched out the Cam sensors with Nissan OEMs and I'm fine. I did not do the crank sensor--my issues were all cam sensor related.

Good Luck.

It's been a few months since you made mention of this and I hope you resolved the issue, but I just wanted to add that the EXACT same things were happening to me. I got a duralast crankshaft sensor and changed that out and purchased 2 cheap cam sensors on eBay. The issue was solved for a second and then me service engine soon light came back on. Along with an knock sensor code, the cam sensor in bank 2 (drivers side) came on...I purchased a better cam sensor from O'Reillys Auto Parts and a duralast knock sensor and replaced them...so far the issue is solved. The SES light hasn't come on, my car doesn't have a hard time starting and doesn't just shut off on me while driving like it was.

So make sure the parts you purchase are at least OE if not OEM and definitely look into the knock sensor as well.
