Nice car. I've been in one before but never realized how coll the rev matches are. That is the shiit and makes the shifts much better. The mid pipe sounds just like my coupes.

X seems almost as fast as my car and seems to only need the z-tube and maybe the plenum to get that higher end working withing the higher rev limit. Nice progression on something that was about tight to begin with. The guages don't do it me and the top center part of the console is not great but the leather touches in the door are a nice.

I am no big fan of automatic but my g35x is one. What is there about the rev match? What exactly does it do? When you downshift it revs up to match it???

You got it Mikee ,what you said. When you downshift with the auto it doesn't act like you just locked up the brakes, it gives a smoother transition when you downshift by matching the revs it should be when going in the lower gear so it isn't as hard on the equipment and you.

Yes it matches by reving right before the tranny drops it into gear...much smoother.

..and my sentence above should not read as to say I own a coupe - I own the coupe midpipe on my sedan...

Hmm...I don't really notice when it kicks in. Anyway, I've had my g35x since Christmas. I like my car but I kinda regret buying an automatic at the same time. I really wanted an awd because I live in northeast but the automatic transmission is really getting to me now. I was down to basically two choice either get the 05 g35x and or 05 tsx stick. I know with the tsx I will miss the awd as well as the v6 horses but now that I bought the g35x, it’s the other way around, I REALLY miss driving a stick shift. Would it be foolish to trade it down to an acura? Some of you would probably say trade it with a 6M/T g35 sedan but I really don’t want to get into rotating snow tires, plus an awd is safer on the road. But I gotta give credit for the tsx’s interior and well as it’s smooth as silk transmission.

TSX rocks - best car in the lineup. This is my first AT car in 10 years and I had a hard time for a while. But I need it and love the manumatic and with the 10 wire kit my car shifts smoothly and overall more crisply and "on-demand".

If you didn't drive a 04.5 or prior you will not notice the rev match feature. But if you pay close attention to the tach you'll see it rev up on a downshift to the higher rpm and then you will feel a bit of a thud which is the clutch/converter engaging.

So after running it pretty hard today the X seems to seem a little slower - I'm sure the break in will cure most of it but it lacks some of the ummmph that my car has when in 3rd at 3000 rpm WOT. My weight, break in, and mods compared to the stock 280 in the 05 X is pretty similar but I love how my engine revs quickly from down low. THe plenum and the pulley are a beaut.

question on the plenum

How difficult was it to install and was it worth it? What dremel cutting if any is necessary and is there any down side to it? How is the seat-of-the-pants feel... Do you notice much difference..?

Yes it's one of the best mods and least controversial gainers there is. See the cuurent discussions and search for some of the older ones from early 2004 in the Tech's forum and you'll be very educated on the topic. And no dremels are involced and no one has presented as donwside other than dealers who may not understand the consumers rights under the MM warranty act.

If you don't want to rotate snow tires as the reason for not getting a G stick, why would you consider a 6spd TSX since it doesn't come with AWD. I really can't follow your logic at all.

Sorry to be a bit confusing. I need a year round car basically since I'll probably get rid of my other car. Awd is obviously my choice but if left with fwd/rwd as my year round car I would probably go with fwd. This is just from my past experience that fwd is a little more stable driving in the snow and it has a higher chance of getting out of a snowy spot. With that said, yes the TSX is no awd and it's no v6, etc but the only reason I want to trade it down (maybe) is because of his 6sp transmission. I can probably live with a fwd year round car just like how I've driven in the past with my accord but I am a little skeptic if I own a g35 6sp rwd as a year round car. Hope this makes a little more sense.

I guess what I really want is a Gx with 6sp. Why can't Infiniti suit someone like me?

rough shifting in 3rd

I have a G35x and when I use the auto stick it sometimes clunks into 3rd... It is only 3rd not any other gear and I notice this happens only before the car is competely warmed up. It only happens on the upshifts...

Has anyone had that problem??? What was the resoltion??

Gotcha-I failed to realize that the TSX is a fwd car so you really don't need to change to snows as fwd is sort of ok with all seasons for the winter.

Hi Mickey
I have not encountered that problem with my X. I should also mention I never take my car over 2,000 rpm until it is up to operating temperature, THEN the fun begins!!!
