Q, does this sound like what yours does? Mary

One more thing that hasn't been mentioned (unless I missed it). How many miles? Everything I have read is if you have higher mileage and transmission fluid has not been changed, a full flush is not recommended. Just do a fluid change. Some are obsessive and do a series of changes in fairly short intervals. But not a flush. Tranny gets used to the grit and to suddenly clean it all out, it shifts worse after a flush than it did before. There are numerous threads on fluid flush/change "debate." A search should turn 'em up.

70K miles. Yes, Infiniti Norwood said this. That a full flush can stir up trouble. But a full drain and fill may be best. Thanks. I emailed the Chevy dealer with this reminder. I am praying for a good outcome. I love these cars so much and to find one in my color preference with decent mileage was tough. I don't fancy the light interiors. Black all the way! I will post an update when I get G back. Thx all!

All, does my 05 G35 have a tranny filter or no? Chevy dealer doing the tranny drain/flush said there is not a filter per se, but more screen type filters within tranny itself that can't be reached.
Just confirming if this the case because I want a tranny filter done if it has one.

Mine also shifts hard and quick in manual mode from 2nd to third @ any temp. I like it. When cold in D the shifting is a like it's hesitating a little b4 it gets to the next gear. Sort of like getting over a hill then hitting the downslope. This is @ low rpm in my subdivision. Once on the highway, after a few minutes, and back on urban streets, all is normal.

I don't use manual mode at all. This is just straight "D", driving mode. Not using any other mode. I do not have a hesitation. Just a thud in those lower gears until it warms up.

Typically the procedure is to just open the drain plug on the transmission pan, drain out the fluid (should be 4 quarts), and then refill with 4 quarts of fresh fluid. No need to pull the pan off and/or change anything inside.

Hope they did it right for you!

There is one but it's typically not servicable. It's more like just a pickup screen.

This might be of some help as a reference material

The trans filter is not really a serviceable item - however some people have opted to put an optional in-line filter but the cooler lines to effectively remove particles. I just drain/fill mine every 30K miles or so.

I do have a harsh shift in the beginning when my vehicle is cold, but mine is only due to the Transgo VB shift kit. Never had any harsh shifts before that.

G35X
OP, I also have a 2005 G35x that does the same thing you are describing. When I get in the car in the morning (after the engine is totally cold from sitting all night), it will "surge" while trying to merge onto the interstate. anything below 40mph is pretty smooth, but one I try to accelerate on a cold engine, the car starts "shaking" as it tries to shift into the next gear. If I hammer the throttle, it smooths out and accelerates. If I let go of the gas, let the rpm drop to 1000, and then slowly reapply pressure to the pedal, the shaking goes away. Once the engine is warm, it does not do this at all. I really wish ANYONE had an answer to this issue, lol.
