XM Satellite Radio question
XM Satellite Radio question
Have an '04 G35 Sedan with XM radio. Dealer tells me the info display should scroll to reveal the song title or artist in entirety. Mine only displays enough characters to fill the display. It does not scroll automatically or by pushing the display button.
Any help is appreciated.

I have a 2005 also with Sirius (which is great, even compared to XM). It seems like Infiniti could have spent $300 more and spec'd a decent audio system rather than this piece of crap Clarion head unit. Between the muddy Bose speakers, the lack of consistent bass/treble controls and the 10 character display -this system belongs in a Toyota Tercel. Car makers should think about where they put their money and what consumers want - other than the basic controls required for driving, what accessory does everyone use the most - THE RADIO!!!
Luckily, Infiniti got everything else right in this car.

I think you can still get XM, I've read somewhere that it is dealer installed anyway. I also read a service bulletin that says they just activate the receiver, the radio is already setup.
I didn't want XM, but bought the last white '04 available at my dealer and the car already had it. My wife loves it and I do too. The cost is around $10 per month, first two months are free. Haven't decided if I should keep it yet or not.
Check out www.xmradio.com. You can get a three day trial to listen online. It shows all the channels. It's pretty cool. Just not sure I want to add to my bills, already paying Roadrunner for Internet and DIRECTTV every month.

My radio scrolls, at least on most FM stations. It gives you station, song title & artist. Don't know how I got this to happen, I just started pushing buttons one day and it started doing its thing. I'm having Sirius installed next week and assume that it will do the same thing...I hope.
Skip on the dealer-install package. You can get an add on unit (the SkyFi 2 complete with the car kit) for under 140 bucks shipped, plus you don't lose the functions of the complete enjoyment of XM radio (such as record/replay functions, stock ticker, info, artist/track search etc) which are not available when using the factory deck. To learn more, visit my site any time (hehe, plug) www.powerxm.com.
Oh, and if any of you guys wanna compare Sirius to XM (and people tell me Sirius is better), visit www.siriusbackstage.com click on Forums, and you will not believe that every other thread is about people hating Sirius.
Well, we all have our opinions about XM v Sirius. I know plenty of both.
Personally, having used both pretty extensively, XM is significantly better for me. They just have a better playlist for my tastes. Others would disagree.
I would love the factory setup but I think I have given up on it. I just can't loose all the extra features you get with a dedicated XM system like the Skyfi 2 or Roady 2. You get none of that with the installed receiver. Why?????

Namely because Delphi is incorporating so much of its technology, that if they gave it all the features, it would make a rather large part of their aftermarket parts obsolete. So they do it to protect their dealers (me, for example) as well as their profitability with separate receivers.
