do first gens sound better than 2nd gen?

I know the sound of my 05X sounded great stock! I switched over to magan racing oe rs it sounds awesome now! I had a 2013 G37 l couldnt hear it run. Under power l thougt my 1st gen has a sweet powerful sound! Somewhat like F1 to a degree.l know when l hit 3500 rpms she really starts to sing!! Am l the only one that feels that way? I know some will say magan is cheap quaility not good. The exh shop was impressed with it! Yes l could have spent thousands but would l got that much better. I know l opened a can of worms.let the fun begin! Oh Merry Christmas to all of you!

No can of worms I'd agree that the early G sedans are louder as well
Coupes have an even "louder" exhaust note imo
I will disagree that it is "F1ish" lol

Its the closest sound. Doesnt sound like a honda with a bad muffler for sure! When l hear those loud mufflers. I say talking loud and saying nothing! At least a G sounds good and will be quick when needed! Merry Christmas!

It sounds good enough. At least it has an exhaust note though. Plenty of other sedans have no exhaust note at all. My Benz is completely silent. All you hear is dull engine noise.

Personally, and don't get offended here because I do love Infiniti.....but of it's not a v8 engine...it should be silent.

I'll disagree with you there.

It shouldn't SCREAM unless it's a V8. A lot of people love that tone the VQ makes (it isn't the muffler folks). Sounds expensive .

I would have to disagree. While I love the some on some V8s (my favorite being the 6.2 AMG V8), there are some v8 engines that I'd rather have silented then have an exhaust.

I prefer some 6cyl sounds over V8s. Like the twin-Turbo charged Cosworth V6 in the Rossion Q1, and the VW VR6 in the passat 3.6. I also prefer the sound of the flat 6 in Porsche 911 Turbo S. Listen to this one with an akrapovic exhaust

Now if we are talking 5cyl, I think its the best sounding engines available because they sound just like v10s.

Again JMO

Here's a link to some 5cyl sounds.

Also to who don't know what a Rossion Q1, heres a link

The sound of 1st gen is the sound of a performance sedan! It sounds alot better than my a6 quattro. At least they dont have that ricer sound! Loud with no performance!!! Newer Infiniti's are toned down. Luxury car sound too quiet!

Naw its definetly not ricer. I personally the sound of the G Coupe Stock exhaust + Intake is the best sound for the car.

you can't call any specific model a ricer, unless you're just doing it in the general quasi-racist way of saying every japanese car is a ricer. it's the stupid modifications that are done to them that qualify them as rice

as for the original question posed by the thread, of course the first gen sounds better than the second. the first was marketed as a luxury sport vehicle, so less effort was put into making it quiet. but the second generation puts more emphasis on the luxury aspect as they try to compete with other more luxurious companies. but all it takes for a second gen to sound good is an exhaust. takes a lot for them to look as good though.

I remember reading a review on the 1st gen sedan about it having "exhaust noise" before I got my car,I love the sound of my sedan.I remember after I test drove it,I didn't get too far away and the guy started my car up and I ducked..I wasn't use to that compared to my maxima,it was quiet.Just last week I took my car in for servicing, and the lady told me afterwards that it made her jump and that she didn't expect that.

I love the exhaust note of my 05. Took my dad out in a 2011 coupe the other day, and it has a great sound as well, but not till you really get on it.

The only thing I would change on my 05 is to have more. It has more than enough power, but I want more loud. I love that at idle and cruising speed you don't hardly hear it, but when you get on it, you do. I want that, but I want it to be louder... are there any good exhaust recommendations?
