Drove over some uneven pavements with a packed car and it tore off my mid pipe and bent the rest of my exhausts. Any chance I can get reimbursed by the city? Located in San Francisco.
Pictures below:
2 tow trucks came and denied my car because it was too low and one guy even tried to get cash from me for him to even try towing it (talk about being in the holiday spirit eh? This was through my insurance roadside assistance too)
They finally brought a flatbed like I requested after 4 hours.
if the city had adequate warning signs and cones placed in the area I doubt you getting anything out of them. It's an uphill battle and cost of damages not worth it IMO.

Appreciate the input. There was actually no signs of "Uneven Pavement" or cones to avoid that area. The few cones in the picture that you see is actually meant for the other part of the construction zone
I can guarantee you that if you make a claim to city it will be denied. So your only option will be small claims court.
Things you need to consider:
*Cost of filing a claim
*Cost of going to court and missing work
If that cost (considering that you might lose the case) is acceptable loss on top of the damages you already suffered, go for it. If those costs are not acceptable, don't
If you successful in proving your case, you can always ask for compensation of court expenses.
Things you will have to prove:
*Wrong doing on city part (inadequate warning signs, improper steel plate installation, improper lightning of construction zone in case if city is required to do that)
Basically you'r job will be to show the court that it's all city's fault and none of yours.
If you can gather affidavits from other people (not related to you) that drive that section and have sustained significant or insignificant damages to their cars, that would be your "get out of jail" card.
City will have to prove that everything was done according to rules and regulations and that it's your fault. God forbid they get a hold of your facebook page and pictures of your lowered car, you're done!
Considering that judge is working for the city, I'd say it wont be an easy process, but as I mentioned before. If costs of filing small claims court are insignificant (as they are in my state) you can always give it a try.
Seriously doubt you'd get anything from them. You have a modified car, which I assume is lowered. Technically it is illegal to modify the ride height of a vehicle.
An unlowered car possibly could have navigated that easily.
