Thumbs down My wife's G37s smokes my G35

Hi everyone.
This is my first forum ever, I hope I don't upset forum cops by making amateur mistakes
A little about myself:
Octane addict...Motorcycles, sports cars, classics, ATVs, love them all and collect them.
There's about 20 vehicles in my collection currently, I'm becoming a hoarder, just can't let go after I spent months working on something, becomes part of me. (I know that sounds pathetic)
Love getting my hands dirty, and other than transmission rebuilt, I can fix pretty much anything on a vehicle. Gives me sense of acomplishment when I figure something out.
Here's my latest quest:
2 years ago my wife went and bought herself a brand new G37s, 7AT and she loves it.
I took it for a ride and was surprised how good of a car it is, and I drove bunch of supercars.
I'm not saying it's a supercar, but for the price it's pretty damn close.
I was so impressed, I did a little research and found the car has cult following from day one.
Original G35, instant classic, I decided to get one for myself.
I did all the tests, car had all the service records from Infiniti dealer, certified preowned, excellent condition. It's a '04 G35 manumatic sedan with 80k miles.
On our way home, my wife was in the next lane at traffic light.
She challenges me to a race (we race untill we reach 10mph over the speed limit, 60mph in this case)
I can't wait to show her that it's not the car, it's the driver that counts.
I shut VDC off, start brake-torquing, while she simply moves shifter to DS.
Off we go, her car screams by me, she was gone while I'm manually shifting close to redline in despair.
We try it 3 more times and it was more of a Prius-Porsche race than 2 generations of the same car racing.
I take her car for a test 0-60 run and it literally only needs to be in DS and floored to give me consistent low 5s 0-60. I did it in my flip-flops.
Then I take mine put it in D (no DS unfortunately), and floor it.
8.6s, 8.8s, 8.5s
It took all the brake torquing and perfect redline shifting and VDC off to get it to 7.3s.
It was still over 2s slower than her easily achieved times.
Infiniti claims 5s for her (correct), and 6.2 for mine (not even close).
I'm thinking maybe ECM needs to be reset if somebody drove it slow and car got lazy.
I'm really disappointed right now as I feel that something is missing.
Did basic checkup myself to make sure it's all normal.
KYM filter, new spark plugs pushed it to 7.1s and that's that.
I'm doing smog-test tomorrow, that may tell me if something is wrong.
It's the first time ever that I'm actually hoping to fail Smog test, at least I'll know where to start, as diagnostics yielded no fault codes.
I really like the car, but if it keeps giving me Corolla/Civic performance with gas mileage of a Hummer, it'll have to go.
Fellow G35 drivers please help with your opinions, suggestions and insults.
Also what's the best way to reset ECU, some cars have sequence with brake/gas/door/key kombo, some simply need battery disconnected over night.
And if there's a simple upgrade that could help, please suggest. (like dyno tuning, air intake etc)
So far original G35 has been a disappointment to me.
And if the questions were all answered in other threads, give me a newbie pass card.
Thank you all for reading.

Might try a compression check. Sounds like you may be down a little.

Thanks for the novella.
Now try to stop putting the public in danger with worthless street racing justified by going only "10 mph over"
Likewise your street racing tales are not allowed on this forum.

And strong lol at the g37 being pretty damn near a supercar for the price

You can get your car about equal to the Straight line performance of the g37 and It will cost you big time. Get the car turboed or superchargered and you'll be alot quicker than a g37. If you stay N.A. then you'll need a intake, long headers with exhaust, cams, ported plenum, plenum spacer, final drive gears, raise the rev limiter, one piece aluminum drive shaft, transgo shift kit and maybe a nwp 75mm throttle body with a 3.5" intake. Then you got to get it tuned and maybe you'll be able to stay nose to nose with a g37 that's in stock form. Or you could just buy a faster car.

Early G35 vs newer G37? That result was kinda to be expected

260/280HP (depending on what publication you believe) vs 330HP isn't really going to be close. That 50-70HP is huge and going to be tough to make up while keeping it N/A. Driver skill can only make up so much.

Honestly, I am surprised you chose to buy a 11-year old automatic sedan that is prob one of the slower models vs grabbing a 6MT 05/06 with 298HP at least? If you want to make up the difference, you'll need some form of forced induction.

No, guys, he's saying he's in the 7s on his 0-60. Even tho he has the slowest G (auto, first gen, sedan, 3.3FD) it shouldn't be THAT slow. Something is wrong with your car, brah. You got old bald a$$ tires on it or something?

@ Hatchman:
Thank you so much, that's exactly what I'm looking for. things that I may have overlooked.
@ everybody else:
Thank you for your good intentions.
I'm aware that g37s is a newer car, and there's things that could be done to it to make it faster, but that's not the issue here.
I own original Carrera GT supercar (one of only about 1000 ever sold) and Im waiting for my new white 911 GT3 to be delivered in 2 weeks, so I'm not desperate to make g35 faster,
just want to figure out if something is wrong with it and share your experiences and thoughts.
@jerseytaylor troll:
First of you need to pay attention to who you're talking to and how.
I can probably be your father when it comes to age difference, so little respect please.
I know you're from Jersey, but try to be a decent human being anyway, it wont hurt, I promise.
Let me address some of your concerns:
1st of in Calabasas, CA where I live everybody drives at least 60 including my neighbors Justin Bieber, Osbournes, Tommy Lee, Jenifer Lopez, Kardashians, Reggie Miller and so on.
If you don't drive fast people honk at you.
Try to picture long curvy road without drunk stinky people, just gated estates.
That, my kid, is the world I live in. I'm not a part of 1%, I look down on them
In California driving up to 10mph over the posted limit is not considered speeding and you won't get pulled over or fined for it, California members back me up on this.
I do not promote reckless driving, I'm against it.
For a guy that's "LOL" at my supercar comment, I changed my album name to "MY SUPERCARS, cars...
Check it out, that's my garage. (the red G35 in picture is not mine, but it's identical, and I didn't feel like washing it, taking a photo just to post it in my album, but I will soon.)
In the first picture only there's about $4M worth of collectable cars. ($M as in Million Dollars).
Yeah kiddo, that's my garage, my life and I love it. Unlike you I owned dozens of supercars, so I actually know what I'm talking about.
My first supercar was Ferrari Testarossa and let me tell you that thing was hot, smelly, uncomfortable piece of work that constantly broke down and each clip was 1000s of dollars. It is a legendary supercar, but if I had to chose one car to stick with for life, I'd chose g37s over it every single time!
Which supercars do you own? I thought so. Your decade old rig is a cool car, but you're a typical NJ
douche.
I hate to come across as a rich, entitled, arrogant *******. (I'm lying, it feels awesome to put down trolls like yourself)

Let's see some pictures of it!

Be careful not to throw everyone from a certain area in a bucket just because of an extreme Minority.

Hey, Dr, you wouldn't happen to know Tommy Benson would you? He's a radio host out of Laguna Beach. He used to be the guitarist in my band so I get to hang at a lot of events with millionaires around LA. He gets around tho, so it would just be funny if you knew him.

Orange County is nicer, laidback world that I rarely have pleasure visiting.

I'm aware of differences, my problem is 1s difference in specs, but over 3 in reality.

I already own several sub 3s 0-60 cars, that's not my problem.
It's my g35 being over 2 seconds slower than factory specs, which means that something is wrong or everybody gets those times and it's normal, that's what I'm trying to figure out.
