What are your needs? Do you plan on frequently driving in ice and snow? Is this a sunny only day car? All seasons? snow tires? summer tires?

With my '06X, it's a daily driver that is frequently driven in light snow, and occasionally in a blizzard or nor'easter here and there.

I run Continental Extremecontact DWS's on mine. In fact, i'm on the 2nd set. I got 70K miles out of the first set and around 30K on the second set...so 100K total miles on these tires.

Very good in the rain and good in snow. I'm very comfortable driving this car in a snowstorm with these. to the point where I haven't felt the need to get snow tires (not saying snows wouldn't be better). In the dry, they grab fine on dry pavement. I'm not a racer, so my use is just commuting to work. Wear is pretty good using 32-34PSI in the tires (on 215/55/17s) and they ride quiet and comfortable. They only get noisy when they are worn out, so the last 10-K of life you might hear some light road noise. I got 70K out of my first set and prob could have squeaked out another 5K if it wasn't November and i wanted fresh rubber before the snow flew.

I currently have Hankook v12s on my coupe and they have been good tires. A little soft, but were very nice. They were quiet until they were almost worn out. They are loud as hell right now. Making the switch to Conti Extremecontact DW on Saturday since I've heard excellent things.

if quiet and comfort are your main criteria, look at michelin all-seasons or bridgestone serenity ... i believe those are one of the quietest tires on the market.
