5at rpm drop?
5at rpm drop?
03 5at....when cruising normal in auto, if i let off the gas the rpms drop down to 1k, then when i give it more gas rpms go up like normal and off i go. But at highger speeds like 60+ it seems like the rpsm will stay steady 1800, or 2000 or what not. is this normal on these transmissions is it going into to neutral or something?
That's what a torque converter does.
They are designed to lockup under certain situations, and not lock under other situations. What you are describing is normal. At lower speeds, the converter is not locked, so when you let off the gas, the Engine RPM drops. At higher speeds/RPM, the converter locks and acts like a clutch being directly coupled to the transmission. It's also (mostly) locked during manumatic mode, although sometimes it's a little "loose".
