I pointed this out several posts ago. The big news is that when he shifts from auto to manual it stays in auto. Trans electrical problem I would suspect.

Yup wife had a beetle that did this. For the bug it was a fuse. OP.. sorry bub. you will need to visit a dealership or be really awesome with a multimeter and schematics.

I'd image with the 3.3 FD, the RPM's would be a tad lower.
I'm going to have to check my '06x tomorrow. My memory says at around 80 MPH I'm twisting about 3200 RPM.

the rocker switch is gone. if it drops a gear and actually goes into manual mode but won't shift up or down it's the switch.

Not allowing a upshift would be new to me. But not out of the realm of possibility. either way if it is the speed sensor with the spinny bit you should replace that sooner than later as it will cause excessive wear on the tranny.

I need to quit putt-putting around town and get out on the highway more often (and improve my memory to do things when the opportunity presents itself). April 1 was not yesterday....

Finally had a chance to check this out today. For me in the '06x 5AT sedan, it is 3,000 rpm @ 75mph and 3,200rpm @ 80 mph. Stock wheel setup.

I would say that that could have an impact considering it tells the ECU the vehicle speed and probably is in input to transmission shift logic.

I'd replace this ASAP
