2800 does sound high for 100 clicks. Can't remember as Mine isn't out of storage yet. Sounds like you have a problem with the tranny not willing to play shiftronic. When in Drive have you counted the # of shifts under normal acceleration to 100? Almost sounds like you're not getting out of 4th.

Do you have a cel? How many clicks on the car? Any record of tranny service? How's the fluid level? Many starting points.

With my 5at, 60mph is at 2250rpm, 67mph is at 2500 rpm. Like previous poster, maybe not getting above 4th gear...

80MPH is like 3K RPM in my car.

These cars do rev high on the highway. I know that over 60MPH i am over 2500RPM.

I have the X, with the 3.5 FD, so my RPM's are going to be a tad higher. I think the 5AT RWD could be had with the 3.3 or 3.5 FD depending on sport or not??

Unless if my tranny is broken too, I run 3K while going 80 as well in my regular G35 (Non-AWD, non-sport, 2006) and I believe I have the 3.3 I hope I'm wrong. More down for the 3.5

Back to OP. Based on our 2 replies here, yes that is high for sure. Something is up with your 5th

I wonder if his manumatic mode has something to do with this.

If i shift to manumatic, the car defaults to 4th gear.

OP. Can you find a nice long road where you can get to a complete stop, and go? You don't need to floor it, but accelerate brisky. Count the gear changes. Do you shift through all 5 gears?

+1 this..

when your running 100kmh, and move the shifter to manual it drops a gear. this is as designed. if you upshift it should go right back into 5th,

if it does not go back into 5th. I suspect oil or syncro or both.

maybe a ecu reset is in order since its super easy. (disconnect battery, turn on ignition. press brake and hold for 30.)

On my ride home, i took some notes.

Again, with my X and it's 3.5 FD....

80MPH in 5th gear is ~ 3000 RPM
60MPH in 5th gear is 2100 RPM
60MPH in 4th gear is ~ 3000 RPM

I'd image with the 3.3 FD, the RPM's would be a tad lower. Sounds like the OP is crusing in 4th gear on the highway and not shifting to 5th.

Question is...why?

OP, can you actually verify if you drive around that you are only shifting through 4 gear from a dead stop? Can you count the shifts?
