2003 G35 Sedan U1000 code also engine starter will not turn the engine over

Please help. I have a 2003 G35 Sedan that won't start or even turn over. I'm getting a U1000 code so from what I've been reading it could either be a poor ground or the ECM needs replacing. When I turn the key to start I can hear the fuel pump kick in but the starter won't turn over. Leading up to this problem the interior lights quit working then the command start quit working. Once the car died the rear tail lights would stay on. I removed the command start computer, and that fixed the tail lights and the interior lights, but the starter still won't engage. The day this problem happened my wife says she started the car and when she put it into reverse it went in hard and chirped the tires. She drove it for a couple miles, but she said it had no power. She decided to shut it off and restart it. At that point it was completely dead and hasn't run since. So far I've cleaned the battery connections and replaced the positive terminal connector. I've also removed and cleaned all ground connections in the engine compartment. Not sure if the ground connections get a good enough connection through the bolts to the frame. To me it seems odd that the surface is painted under the ground connections. Also if I remove the ECM can the dealership check to see if it's ok or do I need to leave it in the car for it to be checked?

Any help would be appreciated!!!! Thanks

I just pulled the ECM out and everything looks real good under there. Should I take everything down to bare metal?
