for some reason i noticed when my fans kick on my idle drops really low. it sometimes sputters like its going to shut off and i think runs lean i could hear the exhaust popping a little. one time a cel came on saying cylinder 1 was lean. only happened once the cel, bout usually when fans kick it almost feels like its ready to shut off. anyone have similar issues? or anything?

High electrical load due to failing fan? Or weak alt/battery?
Can you put a digital multimeter on the battery and check to see that there isn't a big voltage drop when the fans kick on? At idle should be 12-13V or so, but if the voltage drops to 9-11V when the fans kick on, the engine may have trouble running.

Sounds like a bad ground. but that will be a severe pain to diagnose.
(1) to your flavor of the region battery shop. test your battery and charging rate.
(2) failing that buck up and pay the 100$ for a stealership diagnosis if you are anything less than a wizard with ohm meters and a schematic.

Weak battery, weak alternator, bad grounds, shorted power lead, bad battery cables, etc etc.
Basically from your post, i'm concluding that there is a power drain somewhere that causes the engine to not have enough power to run properly. I've seen this happen before with some of the above causes.
