steering wheel power tilt fail

I have the same problem with my 2008 G35x sedan with ~110,000 miles. It started a few months ago. I notice this every time I turn the car off to exit and the steering column makes a terrible rattling sound while going up and same while going down when you enter the car. Adjusting the wheel manually does not make the same noise, its only when the entire column moves. I had the dealer check it out and he said the only solution is to replace the entire tilt motor, upwards of $700.

I declined the service and decided to turn OFF the convenience feature from settings. Since I am the only driver I really do not need the steering wheel to move once its been set.

If any one finds a cheaper solution do let me know.
