How to take *out* the cup holder ?

so the cup holder is a clip in unit ... I think that is inserted into the base black column that the arm rest rides on. i'd like to know how to remove the cup holder and if I need to remove the bottom column assembly to do this ..

reason : squeaky %^&ing noise. If you press on the outside of the cup holder inward it creaks. and when a avg american sits in the SOB $%^ing creaks when you corner hard.

must fix. the rubbing bits need a light lube or insert of some cloth to deaden the noise.

so how to remove the cup holder. anyone have a guide ? I removed the back two screws of the column and tried to pull and lift but it did not give and I did not want to try too hard and mess it up.

Can you post a pic of what you're talking about? If I remember from the interior pic thread, there's quite a few differences based on year, at vs mt, etc.

Sure thing. It will be a few days. warranty is about out so I sent the g35 in for a pile of 'fixes' to get as much out of it as I could.

I press on passenger side and drivers side (opposite directions and outward from center) while pulling up.

What cup holder and what years are we talking about? Front or rear? 5AT or 6MT?

This is the noise that is maddening ... it is the outside of that black console rubbing the outside of the cup holder an the frame of the cup holder.

i'd like to pull it and insulate it... or apply a think thick lube and quite it down but have no idea how to take it apart ..

Ok ... I'm baffled how do you post a video link and have the frame show up. Might be the source of the link ... dunno.

Don't think just the cup holder comes out, you'll have to remove the whole armrest trim piece.

Lift/pop up the shifter surround trim. Will see a few screws in there. Some other screws are on the side to the center console, move seats all the way forward to see them. There might be another screw or two within the armrest itself, but it's been a few years so I'm going off memory.
