Question G35 03 sedan control arms need replacing

So after a trip to get my g35 new tires and an alignment firestone showed me the control arms with some pretty destroyed bushings and they're completely off the center so I need to get these replaced. I'm deciding to just replace the whole arm on both sides. Anyone know where to get some sturdy reliable g35 control arms online? Or were I can get some factory control arms?

Looking to spend as little as possible. If I can bundle the top and bottom control arms in one purchase that would be perfect.

Thanks. I need to order these parts to be here next weekend.

Update:
I'm looking on Amazon at some Beck & Arnley control arms. for the entire 2 sets it'll run me 350. Doesn't sound bad. A lot of people say they're pretty close to OEM. Anyone have any opinions?

Welcome to the forums. I believe what you're probably referring to is the compression rod. If you search for "compression rod" or "compression rod bushing," you'll see that this is a very common issue with G35's. The two options are to replace the whole thing as you suggest, or to replace just the bushing (which you'll have to take to a shop to press it in for you).

I had this problem with my 05 G35x and pressed the bushings in myself with a 12 ton press bought from Harbor Freight. The only problem was that one set of the bushings was not big enough to get the metal sleeve through and then the bolt. So I just put the bolt through with some extra washers to keep the bolt from tearing up the bushing too fast. So far it's been good.

I'm assuming your G is the X since you said sedan so make sure whatever arms you are considering they are for the sedan and not coupe. I made that mistake also. They will not fit and the dealer wants 290 per arm.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. Should I just replace the bushings on my control arms? It looks like it's just the bushings that are bad. Or should I just get the whole assembly?

Silly question on my part. 2003 was RWD only.

Anyway rockauto does have an assortment of control arms for your car. You just didn't mention if it was the upper control arm, lower control arm, or possible the compression rods

Yeah I believe it's the entire assembly quoted by Firestone. But I keep hearing about just replacing bushings. How do I know if my rods and arms have life in them still or if it's time to do the whole thing from scratch?

Unless you've crashed into something and bent the arms, they are most likely fine.

I'd choose which to do based on budget and availability of press.

For example, looking on Rockauto.com....

2003 sedan:
Lower control arm $58
Upper control arm $45
Compression rod $52

Vs the price of bushings (which I don't have) plus removing the arms, pressing the old ones out, installing the new ones and reinstalling.

Which route you take it up to you.

I'm with Mustang it's really based on budget, press and I'd add time to the list. The bushings cost me 30-40 per set so about 70 bucks for the bushings you need. Then remove the control arms and get to pressing. If you can get the arms and replace them, you'll save time.

Since you have the RWD you may have the easier time finding the correct arms as they seem more plentiful than finding them for my AWD.
