I'll bet you're an expert at steering with your knee while multi-tasking! If you're like the medical reps I know and work with, you'll be too busy answering the phone, listening to voicemails and working your palm / dayplanner to enjoy rowing through the gearbox. Not to mention eating on the run. IMHO, make it an auto.

You guys have no idea how difficult this decision is for me. I flat out love manual transmission cars, especially ones as hot as the G35. My head says get the auto, but my heart says go 6mt. Honestly, it's a toss up at this point. Having driven my Dad's Acura, I don't think the 6sp manual be that difficult to drive. Most of my commute is highway, with an average speed of 50+ mph. Additionally, the G35 is so powerful that you really don't need to shift a lot when you're driving between 30-60mph. 3rd gear goes a long way in this car.

I appreciate all the feedback. It's a tough choice, but if the dealer has the 6sp I'm looking for, I just may drive home with it tomorrow!

I highly doubt that. Anyone who bought a 6MT specifically sought out a 6MT. It wasn't a case of "that’s all they had on the lot".

Driving a 6mt is more work but you feel connected to the car. in the AT you feel more isolated from the driving experience

People pick their cars for many different reasons. I never fault anyone for their reasons. The fact of the matter remains is that for the most fun, and the highest available Horsepower, go with a 6MT.

I do around 20k a year, I am not tired of driving the G in traffic. The only reason I even thought maybe the automatic was a better idea was because I got two speeding tickets in 1 week. The other downside of a 6 speed for me is, I always volunteer to drive just because I love driving the G.

But having driven both cars, you can't go wrong either way.

Well, if your going to drive a lot, even though it is not "drastically different", you will get better gas mileage with a manual than auto. The auto gets the worst gas mileage ever!
