I know centric is quality so i have no concern there.

The rear stuff is pretty cheap. It's the AWD front stuff that is expensive.

Out back, the parts are the same with every other G35 sedan and coupe on the road, so sheer scale of economics makes these parts cheap.

It's plausible. We can speculate all day but needless to say i'm surious to what you'll find when you pull the axle out of the bearing.

If the bearing did seize up, it had to take some serious heat to do that. I would imagine you hear something leading up to that? usually before the bearings weld themselves togethet the race would gall up and that would be pretty rough to ride on.

Anyway, let us know what you find.

Wow, did car sustained any other damage?
I have 198k on my coupe and I'm on the 2nd set of bearings, changed at 100k.
Go with Timken, excellent bearings.

Not really, but I havent looked close. There is black on the rear mud flap thing. I am guessing the wheel went backwards and rubbed that before it came out of the well. No other obvious damage.

I was looking for a timken all in one hub and bearing, but i couldnt find any. I wanted a new hub since all 5 studs sheared. I will check these out to see if they have a good brand bearings.

The only hub bearing assembly available from most supplies is the front on RWD applications.

The AWD front bearings, and rear bearings all usually come separate from the hub and must be pressed.

You can sometimes find a company who pairs them up pre-pressed, usually on Ebay or an off-brand company

Does the axle spin freely now? Any obvious noise, grinding, or play in the bearings on that side?

Also, out of curiosity - when was the last time you had the rear wheel off? Are the lug holes egged out now on the rim that flew off?

I only ask because I almost lost a wheel exiting the highway on one of my old cars - I also heard some squealing from the bearings while on the highway when the wheel was turned left or right, but it got really squirrely on the exit ramp, so I pulled over right away, and found three lugs sheared off. It turned out the two lugs that were left were really loose. In my situation, I have a feeling the lugs worked themselves loose, and caused the vibration and eventual shear of the studs...not sure if it was malicious intent (like someone tried to steal my wheels) or I forgot to retorque them. Just another theory for ya.

First, thanks to everyones concern for my safety.

The Fixer, the reason I think something froze is the middle tread patterns on the tire are slick, like they were dragged. It havent had a chance to inspect it and wont until tomorrow. It is possible what you said happened as I am good about all maintainance except tires. I will go through a,set and never rotate them. That is the case with these tires. I use splined lugs and most thieves dont carry the tool for those. I will check the seat and hole for signs of attempted theft tomorrow. Thanks for the idea.

So, I did a tear down. Dropped spring buckets and removed half shafts. Bearing on both sides were fine. I put the car in drive and both hubs turned. Drained and refilled rear diff fluid and it looked and stunk like new. Drain magnet was perfectly clear. I inspected the sheared studs and found two have rust (next to eachother) where they sheared. I live in california and it has been dry since this happened. That, plus the other three were rust free leass me to believe the two lug nut were over tightened or just broke due to time and stress. The others must have broken from the wobbling. I should have done a better inspection at work. Pissed because the ebay guy said the part was the whole hub assembly, but it was just bearings. The picture for the listing shows hubs. Im gonna make him do right or file a complaint with ebay and paypal.

A search of the bearing model number reveals they are Timkin. Got both for $90, but still not happy with the seller misadvertising and false reply to my email.

Wheels have hub rings. Are you thinking the tire shop left the hub ring off?

Check the other side. That's important or the lugs take shear force.
