206k trans fluid change

Just did a drain and fill at 206k+ miles on my 05 5at. 5 quarts came out. Fluid was still red and clear. Little to no wear materials. I have been using Castrol import multi-vehicle since before 100k, so it is good to go. I manual shift pretty regular in red light traffic and drive my car pretty hard.

Did an oil change too. 4 3/4 qts out at 5k mile change.

Did a bulb syringe exchange on my ps fluid. It is looking good too. I use Castrol dex/merc in there.

Ive veen using mmo for a few miles in the fuel. Seems to have quieted a few noises.

I need a brake fluid flush, but I pay for that.

On a side note, I use these buckets for at fluid change. Makes measuring what I take out a breeze. A guy on an Armada forum suggested it.

Use a syringe to suck out what you can from the reservoir then use the two person method to flush the lines. No air!

When I change the trany fluid in my 03 Sedan it only takes 3 3/4.

Is the 05 is different or do I need to put 5?

good to know your transmission is working good after new fluid.
I got a case of Amsoil sitting in my garage and I've been dreading to change my fluid, but since your have no issues to report I think I'll go ahead and flush it.

You must have only drained the pan and not the entire fluid. I think our cars take close to 9qts of fluid total. 3 qts in the pan, few in the cooler and few in the TQ converter. So to do a complete flush you need to disconnect a return line to the radiator (trans fluid return line, not the coolant line), start the car and pump will flush the fluid out. You need to do it in 3 qt steps. Pump 3 qts out, pour 3 qts in. Repeat until fluid from return line comes out clean and purdy.

Not sure, I only did the pan. My graduated bucket showed 5 qts. I usually get 4.5-5 out.
