Armstrong Compression Rod Bushings Suck
My oem compression rod bushings were toast on my 06 G35x. Car was creaking and squeaking over bumps. Also it was floaty on the highway and handled poorly. I was already aware of the symptoms with the oem busbings because I had previously replaced them.
After some research on here, I heard positive reviews about the Armstrong Polyurethane Compression Rod Bushings. So i replaced mine with them. I also greased the F*** out of them before i pressed them in. The car rode great and got its handling back with no noise.
Then the other day it started squeaking and its driving me nuts. I regreased them with the provided grease and they still squeak but not as bad. I noticed it started squeaking when the temperature dropped.
I failed to read that all polyurethane bushings become stiff and squeak in colder weather even when properly lubed. Shouldnt have bought these or anything but oem even those are junk too. Atleast my oem bushings lasted 40K miles without any squeak. Sure polyurethane last longer but if your **** about noises these arent for you.

The more I read, the more I think i'll just stick with OEM arms and redo mine. I had them replaced under warranty at 40K, but now at 163K I think they are getting loose again. I know they will be expensive...but at this point i'd rather pay $400 or so for a pair then deal with pressing out bushings and such.
These NY roads tear these bushings up.
Btw to get the bushings out i spent like 65 bucks on a 6 ton press at harbor freight and pressed them out.
Alot of people recommend poly bushings on here, but from the research I've done, poly bushings can get pretty noisy even when lubricated properly.
Also i just think the suspension on the G35 is junk. Just the design of it is atleast. Its no wonder Infiniti moved away from compression rods on the G37.
I hear even the whiteline poly bushings squeak too. And the spl busbings clunk. The idea behind compression rods in general is just a terrible idea.

Btw I also ordered a tub of this stuff:
I'll try this as a last resort since its recommended for poly bushings. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Never had issues with my poly bushings.. What made a lot of noise were my SPL bushings. They handled amazing and were great in every way, but when running over stuff.. the noise is harsh.
Just ordered a set of Energy bushings from CZP. Great prices
Bud who worked at Infiniti said the compression rod had over 11 part numbers. Infiniti repeatedly trying to fix a faulty design.
Thanks for the heads up on using silicon grease

Hey just an update i got the energy suspension formula 5 grease and my noises when away. This is the only grease I've seen that works. Its sticky and the only thing that actually removes it is brake cleaner.
On a bad note, I tore one bushing when i pressed it out again when i needed to relube it. Going to have to purchase another bushing.
Thinking about doing the lower control arm bushings next!

Used to? What do you use now?
No, I have a press, so I used to buy comp rods and poly bushings, press out the rubber ones, and grease/install the poly ones, wrap em up in plastic and send them to people on here ready to install. Just keeps you from having to go to a shop and do all the leg work.
Oh nice! Wish I could take advantage of that.
I need to figure out how I'm going to press out the comp rod bushings when I get to that point. Can't afford to have downtime during the week due to my wife driving it for work.

Guys please hear me out here. Stop the presses... Ha.
I use a hack saw, a torch, and a hammer. Works every time for every bushing.
Melt the rubber until you can knock out the inner collar. Slide the hack saw blade in then cut. When you're through you can remove the metal sleeve by hand or with a screw driver. 15 minutes.

That was exactly why I started doing it. It's a pain if its your only car. I can still do it for you if you want. Depending on where you live (cuz of shipping) its usually about $200, but you get new arms (with new ball joints), and they're all ready to go.
