Ive been tossing that idea around for a bit. My friend also tossed the idea of finding someone with a 3d printer to try and make one but that sounds pretty complicated.

Think the best way to get a set would be to put a call out on the market place here or talk to other members that are willing to part ways with their stuff. You just have to be at the right place and time, they seldom show up.

There are translucent plastics, but I don't think they will work well. Overall, I'm not sure a 3D printed side marker would work anyway.

There are translucent 3D plastics, and there's no reason why a properly design side marker wouldn't "work".

The problem is that most translucent 3D printable plastics aren't nearly as durable as the polycarbonate injection molded side markers. Most are either not UV stable, not capable of sustaining relatively high temps (160+F), low tensile and impact strength, or all of the above.

Also, most of them need to be polished to get them crystal clear, and the high quality clear 3D printed plastics are extremely expensive. For something the size of our side markers, you'd be looking at $50+ per side.

Well that's what I was alluding to. I'm sure I could print a side marker off on my home 3D printer, but long term durability probably wouldn't be all that great.

I don't think I have it in my budget to purchase a professional $100K+ 3D printer setup either.
