G Not stable when driving in thunder storm in SoCal the past 2 weeks?

Anyone feel their G is not stable when driving in the thunder storm that is going on in SoCal for past couple weeks?

My G was pull left to right at around 50 mph on 210 FWY & 101 FWY from Ontario to Ventura. The SLIP light comes on very often, which is a good thing to keep my G from Spinning out but I can feel the rear end keep slip out from side to side.

The whole way I kept thinking that I might of made a wrong choice not getting the FX35. I choose the fun instead of safety for my family.

** I know its a different car and its stupid but I use to drive 70 - 80 MPH in the thunder storm like this with my 94 BMW 530i and not feel a thing as its provided me with total confident of the road. Now that I'm calm down a bit with age but I still feel totally safe when driving my 03 ML500 at 65mph in the same storm.

Is it the tire? Or is it the car? Serious, my G really scare me for the past couple weeks at I does long commute(1hr30min one way) over the weekends.

I'm sure when weather get dry again, I forget about what happen now and fall in love with my G all over again.

You are not alone. Most of the G and FX series are equiped with poor wet and snow tires. What tires are on your car?

My 05 with Sport susp. and 18s has not seen dry pavement in its last nine days of existence in my hands....I really can't wait until the streets finally dry...but no major issues, the Slip light only came on a few times when I attempted to give it more gas than it should have had with wet streets...

It has to be your lousy OEM tires! It rains all the time here in Houston and my sedan never has any problems. I replaced those POS Turzanas EL42 with the KUMHOs. The sedan handles wet roads like a champ!

I also have the 05 with Sport suspension and 18s and the car is very well planted in the rain. In fact, in 2,500 miles of driving, I have only seen the slip light once, which was the result of my heavy right foot. :-)

It sounds like a tire issue.

I would agree, that it is either a tire issue, or that there was just too much water on the road for the speeds you were at [regardless of what tire you are running]. I'm located in So. Cal. too, and the rains have been intense at times. I'm not driving as fast as you are in the rain, but no problems at all with my G sedan.

Tires will help for sure, but you're right this car DOES seem to pick up a lot of side-wind. It's quite a tall car, really. It's like a big ship's sail on wheels

TIRES TIRES TIRES. I changed my turanza's when they still had a good 10-15k of tread left on them. Haven't looked back since... Unlike WITH the turanzas when I WAS looking back... and heading toward oncoming traffic... (eek)

I have almost the same drive as you... Rialto to Panorama city. My G has been absolutely perfect in the rain. Never has the slip light come on. You may want to check your tires. On a side note... this 4-5 hours a day in traffice is crap.

I drive on the 210 all the time, and I haven't had any troubles at all. In fact, my 2003.5 G feels so much more stable in the rain than any of my previous cars (Civic, Mustang). I have the pilot sports too.

I'm the same as G35ALEX ... bought the car in the rain on Friday as they pulled it off the truck, and it hasn't been dry since. I've got the 18" Turanzas, and have had nothing but good traction - so far. Hopefully all that rubber, combined with the not-so-lightweight factor, keeps this car planted. Haven't seen the Slip light yet

I also have a 04.5 coupe with pilot sports (18s) and my slip light hasn't even come on. I'm here in so-cal and have driven through a ton of water and had perfect control. I really think if you feel that unsafe, you should get it aligned and checked out.

Michelin Pilot sports are your friends. It's your tires. I never have a problem in heavy rain, I can go 80 mph with confidence in the rain.

I still has my OEM tire on my 04 with sport turned suspension. I guess tire sound to be the most liable curprits. Its still new with only 20,000 miles on. I'll wait til I get my 19" wheel and tire package soon. So now, I'll just take my SUV whenever I'm taking my family out until the weather here in SoCal is back to normal again.

I dunno man, at 20K those tires may be close to retirement age... what tires do you have on there?
