Question which deal should I take? - The deal is done.

I have been searching for a while to join you and it is decision time.

So:

Deal 1:

Bright silver with premium/sport/spoiler/03.0 41k miles, new Turanzas and front brakes, Infinit certified (w/o the extra warranty) in pretty good shape for $21k. Drivers seat shows some wear but otherwise, good condition/clean title.

Deal 2:

Desert Platinum/willow, premium/winter/wood standard suspension/03.5 with 39k miles, new tires (not sure what yet), brakes, etc... but at a BMW dealer, not Infiniti certified. $20k. Looks very good, less wear on drivers seat. Also very nice/clean title.

Personally, I think I would prefer to not have the sport suspension. I just don't drive that hard and the extra bounce in day-to-day driving may be too much for me. But the resale value is good for the sport version. Color is not too material for me. I like both ok.

Which would you take and why?

Thanks!!!

dealer?

I'd check with the infiniti dealer first. Tell him of your situation, and see if he'd throw in a re-leathering of the driver's seat for about the same price. Hopefully he will bite and you'll be in.

Kind of a toss up. What I would do is try to get the service records for both cars. Maybe Infiniti keeps the dealer service records computerized and the Infiniti dealer could call up both of them for you. I would go with the one with the better service history if there is a significant difference. If not get the one with the Infiniti warranty.

Just had another thought after my post. I read on Edmonds about a guy who just got a base 04 sedan new for 24k. Might be worthwhile to see if you can get a new base model real cheap. Nothing beats new especially if there is only a 3-4 K spread between new and a car with 40K miles on it and an unknown history.

Well,

I keep going back and forth on this decision.

Do I want the sport? Enough to take the harsher ride?

I bet the 41k miles on the sport are a lot harder miles than the 39k on the non-sport. Heck since it is DP, it might have been driven by an old lady :-)

I could put some tint on the DP windows and maybe get a lip spoiler. Of course then there is no cost difference between them. Resale is probably better in 4-5 years on the sport (the lower-end mod crowd will want it then).

I do like the 03.5 tail better then the 03's doggie door. So that points to option #2.

AAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!

Maybe I will make a final offer to each that is extra low and see what happens. But I don't think I'm going to get much better.

ps. I don't want a base model and I really can't spend another 4-5k. Good suggestion but it's not going to happen.

Thanks again for your help everyone.

Homie

Well, with a little research I found that the DP was driven by a female and the sport silver was a male.

That doesn't prove anything but statistically, the female was probably easier on her car. Also, it has better maintenance records from the dealership. The silver was not serviced at the dealer though it is the one that is Infiniti certified.

hummmm

Don't buy a car based on what the resale will be in 4 - 5 years. Especially if you have doubts about the sport suspension. I have an 04 sedan non sport suspension. It has Auto trans. The ride is firm enough for me. If you like to cruise with your head against the headrest, you will find the non sprot suspension still bounces your head off constantly. I can only imagine how aggrevated I would be with the sport suspension. I drove the coupe with sport suspension and found it not as comfortable. It is a very personal coice and one YOU have to make. I am not a speed racer type and don't corner like a madman. I like the straight away power and use it frequently. The car handles well for what I do with it. Good luck with whatever you purchase.

update: The Desert Platinum needs it's 30k service but the oil was changed. All brakes and tires, etc are fine. It needs transmission, coolant, differential, and airfilter I guess.

So, they said they could knock it down to $19500.

Just bought the Desert Platinum car for $19,500.

I think that is a pretty good deal for a premium/winter/wood with a clean title and full maintenance history with 39k miles.

I will be riding in it tomorrow.

YYEEESSSSS!!!! Finally!! I've been drooling over G's for about a year and now I am finally going to have that sweeet ride I have been coveting.

WWWWhhhhheeeeeeee!!!!

Thanks all.

I am back home with the new-to-me G. I flew out of Indy yesterday at 5:45 and arrived in Philly at 9:30. My sales rep picked me up at the airport in his heavily modded M3. My ears are still ringing from the two 300 watt amps and the 500 watt amp going to the bass. That was a fast car.

So I got there around 10:00 looked the car over and took har for a drive. Outside of tires with more wear than I expected all looked and sounded good.

So I complained a little about the tires and we worked out another $400 off so I can go get new. New price = $19,100.

So, out the door with the G, my state taxes and title paid, fees and the 60 mo./60k mile warrranty JustBrilliantX hooked me up on for $21,400 cash

Then I drove straight home. Got back at midnight. That Penn Turnpike made for a great start for me and my G - all those hills and curves!

Thanks again for all the help folks. Now, which tires? what tint? add a spoiler? Z-tube and midpipe?

The real fun begins :-)
