Replacing Refrigerant Control Valve/Compressor Control Valve

Replacing Refrigerant Control Valve/Compressor Control Valve
Has anyone replaced this valve on their G35? Can it be done without removing the compressor? I know the system would need to be discharged and recharged. Are there any specific instructions to installing the new unit? A friend's shop can discharge/recharge the AC. I'm just wondering if I can let him discharge it, then me replace the part quickly without removing the compressor, then he recharge it.
Here are the details. On my son's 2003 G35, his AC is not blowing cold. I checked the pressure on the system and there is high pressure on the low side and low pressure on the high side. Research seems to indicate the compressor control valve is the first place to start.
Thanks for any feedback.

To update on this, it turns out the problem wasn't the RCV. Rather, the clutch plate had fallen off the front of the compressor, which I have found to be a common problem on this vehicle. I bought a replacement compressor and swapped the whole thing out. When diagnosing this, I "glanced" at the clutch and saw it engaged so I didn't think that was the problem but since it was spinning and kind of dark, I didn't notice the detail of the missing clutch plate.
To answer my own question on accessing/removing the RCV, it is on the bottom of the compressor and very accessible. It was just a little difficult for my big fingers to unsnap the harness. Still, a manageable job for someone needing to do this.
However, had I actually had to replace the RCV, I'm not sure which part I would have needed to get. The part that comes up on Autozone/O'Reilly, etc. looks different than the outside of the part on my son's vehicle. I may pull the valve from the old compressor just to identify the right part and post it here later.
