Rear window brake light out

I need to replace the light for my rear window brake light. Online they seem to be just over $100. Are there any cheaper replacements? I have a 2004 G35 Sedan V6.

thx!

I don't recall if the coupe third brake light is the same as the sedan one, but if so, I'm selling a used one for $20.

There are a few aftermarket options. I think I bought one for $50, installed it, and it outlived the vehicle

you can fix it for 1$ if you go down to radioshack and buy the right resistor and solder it in. its a little brighter when you are done too.

I repaired my 3rd brake light twice now and had the repalcement diode fail both times. All the DIYs I read about this recommended using a 1N4001 in place of the failed diode. I used that once and a 1N4002 or 4003 with a higher rating after the first repair failed. Has anybody personally put a resistor in that location in place of the diode that fails and had it work reliably? If so, what value?

Used to be an LED guy who sold a stronger and brighter replacement on this board. I think he sold the last of his stock 2 years ago. Mine is out and I've contemplated just tossing in a cheap SMD LED strip so at least there is some light in there.
