I mean if it rolls and doesn't really have any problems I'd say that's a good deal. I mean any car for $2k is a pretty good deal.

A brand new 1969 Volkswagen that I purchased was $2000.00

If the op is prepared to spend at least that much and possible double the purchase price on needed repairs it might make sense?

Just be prepared

Can you afford a $6000 price tag? There is a LOT of work, and more work in your future.

Too much issues to work on. If you don't know or like to work on your own cars, its not a good deal.

you might as well get a good 350z/g35 for $4000-5000 and keep your sanity.

or craigslist a mechanic, I mean you take a gamble on whether or not they are reputable but if you check his references and credibility it may save you a grand or two. Source all the parts yourself from rock auto.. get the cheapest you can afford, not necessarily going for the cheapest part but where you feel comfortable spending. The suspension components such as the control arms are definitely diy, if you have the patience to work on it. Having a buddy there for shi* and giggles always helps because it may give you more confidence to get in there. Plus I've always found it helpful to have a second set of eyes always.. when I get stuck on something, I tend to overlook a simple fix and get frustrated. That is where someone else can come in handy.

The exhaust components are simple as long as there is no rust and the brakes are simple as well. Unbolt, compress caliper piston slowly (slowly so that you don't have to bleed the lines) change out pad and rotors then bolt those babies back up. Then bed the brakes when you are done. If the engine is sound you can definitely turn this into a great buy.

I'd walk away.

By the time you are done, you just spent $6K on a car with 180,000 miles.

If you are going to spend that, you could probably buy one in better shape with less miles that needs much less
