After a long and exhausting day at Intense Racing in Gilbert, AZ, the final numbers were:

235.9 hp/ 234.48 ft tq

Dynojet 248 c I believe is the model.
No mods.

Thats sounds like a reasonable dynojet number for the 280-spec VQ.

How does this compare to the stock 260hp 04 ? I've only seen dynos on here for modded 04 sedans and coupes.

Nice numbers, expecially the torque figure. Can you please post the dyno plot, I want to look at the torque curve from peak to redline.

03 and 04 6mt's dyno oem in that range too, but not the A/T cars. 206/215 is the norm.

Is that SAE corrected? Can you post the graphs? Peak numbers don't really give us much info.

G23Alex - First, what clear corners did you use? I've been wondering about clears for my 2005...

Secondly, I think those peak numbers are quite good for a 1300 mile A/T vehicle... should be even stronger as more miles are added. I would also be interested in a plot.

Trebien, you can use clear corners from your 2003/2004 G35S. That is what I am currently doing.

And yes, a graph would be great!

Nice numbers. What gear was this in?

Was this from the Arizona dyno day also posted on my350z? If so, didn't a stock 6mt 350z put down 255whp?

That seems to say one of three things to me:

1. This dyno was reading higher than the average dynojet numbers. (About 230-235 whp for a 6mt g35/350z).

or

2. That 350z is really strong from the factory, which supports my belief that these cars are NOT created equal. For reference, my 5AT coupe with a z-tube only put down 219 whp.

or

3. The ECU can be responsible for big differences in the performance of two equally equipped cars.

A few responses.
1)On my 05-I got my clear corners at www.courtesyparts.com-24 bucks
2) SAE corrected, 1.09 factor
3) The Z (and yes, that's the same thread) was a bone bone bone stock, we can all vouch for it, and yes, it was a freak at 255 rwhp
4) I don't have a scanner, and I'd love to put up my sheets
5) I believe this was in third gear. I also tested top speed in 4th gear, and it hit 145 on the dot.

Thanks for posting that. I had no idea Courtesy had those so cheap.

That's a really high CF. Was it really hot or is Phoenix at a higher altitude than I remember...or both? For the most realistic dyno numbers and being able to compare with other Dynojet plots throughout the country, the ideal CF needs to be in the .99-1.01 range. Once the CF starts going high, the numbers typically start getting higher and vice versa. The SAE CF data seems to get skewed once the CF goes over 1.03 or below .97. The CF program seems to over/under compensate. The 255whp stock 350Z seems to suggest that the dyno was probably correcting numbers to around +15-20whp/wtq higher than you'd see under perfect conditions (1.0 CF). I've seen this before and my dyno shop has shown me on my own dyno graphs how much influence CFs have on the numbers if you start raising/lowering the CFs. I'd imagine under perfect conditions, your car would do around 220whp/220wtq or so. The 05 sedans definitely appear to be making more power than the 03/04s sedans. Not huge power, but clearly more.

As for "factory freaks" in this day and age, I have a really hard time believing it. The build tolerances of these cars are so tight that the difference in power between motors is within 1% or so.

5) I believe this was in third gear. I also tested top speed in 4th gear, and it hit 145 on the dot.
Others please correct me if I'm wrong, but don't most of the auto guys dyno in 4th because of the 1:1 ratio. I think 3rd shows fractionally more power than 4th. 145mph in 4th? That's good to know

Some dyno discussion here.

As for 3rd vs 4th, many dyno shops aren't crazy about the idea of the car going 140 MPH+ on the machine. I've seen with my car a dramatic difference between 3rd and 4th.

On the dynapack at Church automotive, we did 3 or 4 runs on 4th and then 3rd. All within 15 minutes, with the car still on machine, same dyno operator, same gas, same everything. Consistently 4th was about within 2 HP of 260, 3rd was within 2-3 HP of 270.

As for factory tolerances, I've also seen first hand my car with a Z-tube do 219 on a dynojet, and on the same day within an hour, another AT coupe (same color too) do 236 with popcharger and Z-tube. Even if we believe JWT's claim of 6.5 HP with the popcharger, we're still looking at about 4.5% difference. I'm convinced that my car is a factory dud, and there's really no benefit to say that about my car.
