Throttle body cleaning? How to?
Throttle body cleaning? How to?
I have a 2006 sedan, about 63k miles on it and all of a sudden the idle feels shaky, like hesitation, especially at stop lights. I cleaned the MAF and it didnt really do anything, maybe SLIGHTLY. Anyways, my question is, how do I clean the throttle body without having to do an idle relearn or TB relearn or whatever.
Theres a 2nd gen thread, where all they have to do is unbolt the TB, with everything still connected, clean it like that and just reinstall. They dont have to do anything else. Can that be the case with our generations, because im getting mixed advise. Some say disconnect one plug but not another, disconnect the battery, have the ignition on a certain position ect ect.
Can I just unbolt, clean and reinstall, without disconnecting anything and Not having to do an relearn?
OR even
Have the car running, slide thelittle red cleaner tube through the TB rubber tube and have someone rev the car as I spray? if that makes sense. i believe I did that to an old maxima I had and it worked....
Any advice would be much appreciated....

Leave the car in the run position and press the accelerator, might want to unplug the fuel pump fuse or relay, but don't turn it on. Then when the throttle plate is open hit with your cleaner and toothbrush. That should theoretically allow you to clean it without having to do a reset or messing it up. I did this with my Rav4 and haven't had any issues.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

coffey has good advice above. Just please, whatever you do, please don't do this: https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-cou...ghlight=colsoh
Funny, I was watching a YouTube video on how to do this exact same method right as you replied. I did it and so far so good. G Seems to be running back to normal, but I know it takes a few days for the ECU to officially relearn the idle so we'll see. Thanks for the advice I appreciate it....

Turn the key to run, use a stick to hold the gas pedal to the floor if working alone, spray down, wipe clean, then release the pedal before turning the key back to the off position.
Good way to tell if you need to clean it is stalling or low idle right after a hot restart.
I've cleaned mine and several others' throttle bodies. I always unplug it due to screwing up a Maxima one once.
Unhook battery, remove throttle body, clean it out with a brush, reverse steps. Turn ignition switch on/off a few times, without starting, to perform the throttle closed relearn. Start engine and warm up fully (drive around the block a few times is best). Then use an OBD2 dongle and NDSII app on my phone to perform idle relearn, no fancy pedal dance required. Done.
