The 2003/2004 G35 sedan autos have a projected MPG rating of 19 city / 26 highway. The 2005 G35 sedan auto has a more realistic rating of 17/24. Do you think Infiniti realized their initial projected MPG ratings were a bit too optimistic

I consistently get 19/20 mpg city in my '04 AT Sedan, so I don't think they were too optimistic at all!

Note that the EPA sets the mileage estimates, not the manufacturer.

I assume the 2005 auto consumes more gas because of the 20 extra ponies. My 2003 averages 19/20 MPG with about 50% mix of hwy and city. Therefore I think 19 MPG city is optimistic.

My 05 window sticker also said 18/25. I consistently get 20-21mpg.

I get 24.13 MPG hwy. Not bad since my x is rated at 24.

As Meridian stated I belive the more conservative estimate is due to the more aggresive timing leading to the 20 horsepower.

My car makes up for not using ANY oil by giving me (and my right foot) a whopping 15/16 mpg. AND that's if I talk real sweet and rub her console. Mostly very fast stop light to stop light around town..JBX

Talking

So! Most of the time, I get around 12/13 because I am a "gas-freak". My foot is glued to the accelerator! Hehe

My X says 17/24 on the sticker. It's fine with me. I really didn't buy the car for the mileage. Looks, all wheel drive, and a great car to drive overall, made me buy it. It only has 200 miles on it, so time will tell as far as mileage goes. Whatever it may be, I'm fine with it.

I heard the VQ35 engine always has lousy gas mileage when it's new. After 5 to 10k it averages out to 22mpg. Couple of people with 03 and 04s told me the samething as well users from Maxima forum.

By the way, I filled up the wife's Armada. 33 bux from 1/2 tank...and that is using regular gas! She gets like 12 if she babies it. LOL. Great truck though, it's an animal.
