I guess the CLK320 has only 215 HP. It's up to you.

Do a search online for a review of both cars. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised that the G35 reviews seems better than the MB. At least that's been my experience. It's hard to beat the G in styling and performance in my opinion. MB makes a great car but keep it until it's out of warranty and compare parts prices also. That might sway your vote further. Either way....good luck in your search.

Well, they are two different cars as the CLK is a 2 door and the G is a 4 door. If you want, the deal seems reasonable because you are talking about a Benz, but I wouldn't trade the G in anyday for an 02 CLK. I have always had new Benzes since I was born (not to brag whatsoever), but I think that the G is quite a great car, nothing really shy of the Benz. In my opinion, if there was a benz sign in front of our Gs, the price of our cars would be atleast $10, 000 more than it is. Stick with the G, plus its newer.

Surprisingly, MB parts are cheap when compared to Infiniti, BMW, or Audi. Is it b/c Chrysler bought them out?

The CLK320 is POS compared to a G35 in every way. CLK not a good build. Check edmunds.com If you want to attract chicken heads and say you drive a Benz (a lousy one at that) then go for it. Otherwise you already have sweet ride and much more reliable than that Benz.

Have you checked out the MB boards like http://forums1.roadfly.org/mercedes/forums/w208/? You'll probably come to the same conclusions that you would researching G35's here, that some people report few problems and some a lot. From what I've heard, Mercedes Benz quality has slipped tremendously in recent years but I don't know if that applies to the model in question.

I would trade my 2004 G35 in for the new 2005 G35. If Infinity wasn't going to change their G35 interior - I would had purchased the Acura TL. 2004 and below interior is ugly!!! 2005 is above average - good.

some MB have problems later on...my cousin has a 2000 clk 320 and his engine checklight is always on...he only has 49000 miles on it...it costs a grip to for parts on any mercedes...they changed the body shape in 03'...so i would take that under consideration too...(just my 2 cents)

Great idea. Then you can trade the 02 clk 320 for a 00 Mercedes E420, then trade that for maybe a 98 BMW 540 and finally make a trade for a 96 S class Mercedes. (And you thought getting an S class Mercedes was just the pervue of the rich)
