Loaner car

Hey guys I just stepped up from my Titan to a G35 (good move) and the salesman was showing me around, and explaining how to get service. He mentioned when I leave my car for service I'll get a loaner. I've seen here someone posted about a $5 charge for the loaner, is that true or is the loaner really a loaner( free) when you're have you car serviced?

The loaner is free. I would think that a dealer who would charge $5 for use of a loaner will wind up being a "loner"

My loaners have always been free. If you pay for a "loaner", it becomes a "rental"

The loaner is free at my dealer. They might expect me to fill it back up if I used a lot of gas, but typically I put 6 miles on the loaner. Even when it was more (maybe 40 miles) they didn't ask. (They also warn everyone that their cars are not equipped with EZPass, our automatic toll device, so I take mine out and use it in the loaner. That can cause trouble, though, because the photo of the plate, if taken, won't match the device. Theoretically, you're supposed to notify EZPass in advance-not so easy. It's probably easier to just pay the toll (usually I don't need the EZPass with the loaner on my usual route).

I just had a loaner yesterday, and the dealer charged me $5 for gas. It was explained as a standard charge for all loaners, regardless of how much mileage you actually put on or how much gas you use. At current gas prices around here, that $5 probably covers about 40 miles. So you might as well take the car out for a nice long ride!

I was having curb rash repair, not warranty service. So I don't know if things would be different for warranty work. But the $5 sounded like a standard charge for all their loaners.

Yeah, here in Houston they take a photo of the car, if the car does not match the plate and type of car, you get a fine. The EZtag goes with the car, not the driver.

I don't have a problem paying for gas on a loaner, if you were driving your car, you'd be buying gas.

Loner car

I bought my car one place and am having it serviced elsewhere. No charge for the loner. I think this is Infiniti S.O.P.

The dealer that I got it from charge me $10 for gas only if I don't fill it back to the level when I pick up the loaner.
I went to another dealer (closer to home) and they don't charge anything.
I guess every dealer has their own policy.

My dealer didn’t charge for a loaner for the first ~1.5 years, they just asked that we replace the gas we used. No problem. Then, they switched to saying they’d charge $6 for a loaner so we wouldn’t have to bother with the gas. However, they have yet to charge me for gas the 3-4 times I’ve been in since, so I have no complaints. Hopefully they’ll continue with the empty threats!

Last week, with my first loaner, I ended up putting 195 miles on it

I had planned to go out of town that day, and put the miles on their car.

I guess the person who drives 6 miles makes up for it.

Of course, at the 7500 service I didn't think of asking for the loaner.

If i am paying for other services Ardmore charges me 5 (now 7) bucks. If it's service and all is under warranty they don't charge me anything. They would never charge for just the loaner.

$5 bucks is pretty cheap in the whole scheme of things. I would vneture to say I have used more than five bucks in gas and tires on all of the loaners I have had.

i've read about some people on this forum being denied a loaner if the work isn't more than a 2-hour job. so if they take their car in for an oil change, they have to sit there and wait.
