05 Sedan Six Speed - Options for motor Replacemet
Sorry for the n00b questions, but I searched and couldn't find the exact answer. I probably don't know the best keywords...
Anyways, 2005 g35 Sedan 6spd, motor is knocking. What are my options for a direct swap?
It seems the car has a revup but would I be able to swap a non revup? Im trying to do this the most cost efficient way possible. If any gurus want to help and answer my questions I could Venmo you some beer money.
Thanks,

The short block is the same but the heads are different. You can use any '03-'04 350Z, or '03-'07 G35 auto, or '03-'04 G35 6MT short block. Or get a direct bolt-in replacement from a '05-'07 G35 6MT.
Stay away from the other VQ35DE motors from the Altima, Maxima, etc. They sit a different height in the chassis.
It's a somewhat complex process swapping the heads but the factory service manual has exact directions and pictures so it's not really HARD, just needs to be done very precisely and has a lot of parts.

Thank you for the reply.
So it seems the only direct bolt-in replacement is the 05-'07 G35 6MT "rev up". Looking on ebay those motors are priced so much higher...maybe I will get lucky and find something on Craigslist.
I may look in to the short block, I'm guessing any decent mechanic could change a short block.
